Birchbox is a beauty sampling subscription service that sends 5+ new items each month so you can try before you buy. Birchbox is $15 a month and you can choose a monthly sample during selection time, let Birchbox decide, or pick a pre-curated box.

DEAL: Join today and grab one of these freebies with subscription!

This is a review of a regular, non-curated box – but it’s their first $15 box!

All the items are nicely lined up and wrapped in a mint green tissue paper.

The product info card mentioned some of the changes that are going on, plus a contact number where you can provide your feedback.

The info card gives brief details on each item as well as the price if you were to buy the full size. Keep in mind that Birchbox sends a variety of product combos each month and your box may vary from mine.

I found a card with a coupon code for a shop purchase – SAVE15. However, it’s not valid on subscriptions and you must make a $60+ order to take advantage of the offer.

Everything in my April 2019 box!

Smashbox Super Fan Fanned-Out Mascara ($11.51) This mascara isn’t called “super” for nothing. It has excellent coverage that provides length, volume, curl, and definition without smudging, clumping, and flaking.

It features a 360° precision double-bristle brush that creates thicker, more defined, and wide-eyed effect in just a single swipe. Its shimmery red packaging is also eye-catching!

Wander Beauty Lip Retreat Oil ($6.47) It’s a real treat for the lips! The lip oil is made with Rosa Canina fruit oil, apricot kernel oil, and avocado oil. They work together to deeply moisturize, firm, and keep the lips looking healthy. I got the same sample item from the first of the two boxes they curated for this month and I still think that it’s kind of pricey for its size.

100% Pure Green Tea EGCG Concentrate Cream ($10.60) It’s a daily face cream with a lightweight formula that’s quick-absorbing and refreshing. It’s nourished with organic ingredients such as yerba mate water, acai butter, green tea oil, and rooibos tea. They effectively work as a light astringent that fights acne. It also repels damaging free radicals and the signs of aging.

Georgette Klinger Vitamin C Cleansing Gel ($1.94) This cleansing gel is infused with multitasking vitamin C extracts that restore, rejuvenate, and refine the skin. The formula also includes orange, grapefruit, and lemon peel for gentle exfoliation. Another key ingredient is kakadu plum which brightens and protects your skin. A dime-sized amount is enough for each application. It feels good on my skin and it rinses easily, leaving it smooth, soft, and clean!

Amika Un.Done Volume and Matte Texture Spray ($7.50) This award-winning texturizing hair spray delivers a sexy, tousled style with an undone matte texture. It also fights frizz, detoxifies hair, and builds long-lasting volume. This is easy to use, just hold the can a few inches away from your scalp then spray. For volume, target the roots and for texture, spray it on the lengths of your hair. It contains sea buckthorn berry that keeps hair strong and rice powder that absorbs oil.

Living Proof Prime Style Extender ($4) Aside from extending any hairstyle up to two times longer, this product also helps repel dirt and oil to keep hair cleaner, shinier, and healthier. It also works in detangling, smoothing, and volumizing the hair. They said this will help hold a hairstyle for days, perfect if you don’t have much time in your hands but still want your hair to look fab!

This month’s curated box included a couple of hair products, skin care essentials, and a mascara which has quickly become my favorite. The mascara stood out the most for me because I appreciate anything that can make my thin lashes look thicker and more appealing and this one absolutely did just that. Overall, I’m happy I was able to test new products and see if they are worth a repurchase!

This box featured 6 items instead of the previous 5. I’m not sure if that change will stick or if it will depend on the total product value, which was about $42. Pretty good, but worth the extra $5?
