First look! The packing is pretty simple, just some wadded up paper that keeps everything safe.

I like the product info cards that Pearlesque provides, they give a brief snapshot into the featured brand, which for March is Franklin & Whitman:

Every Franklin & Whitman product is proudly handcrafted in our hometown of Philadelphia. Each product name comes from a neighborhood or park in our wonderful city. Did you know that our company name even comes from something Philly? The Ben Franklin Bridge and the Walt Whitman Bridge are Philadelphia’s two major bridges! Our first logo was even a bridge (what were we thinking???). We love our city and couldn’t be prouder to call it home.

The back of the introductory card listed each product, its retail value, and how to use each item. I like that Pearlesque also includes their own #pearltip for the products.

Everything in my March 2019 Pearlesque Box!

Franklin & Whitman Washington Botanical Steam ($21.95) “Our Washington Square Botanical Steam is a bright herbal blend of nourishing botanicals beneficial for skin hydration, purification and deep cleansing of pores.”

All of the ingredients are listed right on the bottle, although this isn’t the same as the website, which also lists linden leaf.

Directions were even listed, which is very handy to have on the container.

I am definitely seeing leaves in here! It actually smells like a nice herbal tea. That’s basically what it is, except you place your head over the bowl instead of drinking it. Use a toner after steaming to help clear debris from pores, or immediately apply the next item!

Franklin & Whitman Oak Lane Face Mask ($24.95) “Our top acne fighter! This amazing, nourishing treatment makes your skin smooth, soft and supple.”

Clay, cacao, charcoal, and turmeric are the ingredients, which help draw oil and impurities from skin as it dries.

Mix a couple of teaspoons with water, hydrosol, or yogurt and apply to a clean face. Leave on for 5-15 minutes, but don’t let it dry completely.

I think it’s easy (and less messy) to apply this type of product before taking a shower so I can just rinse it under the spray. I didn’t try this mask, I have dry, sensitive skin and this is for oily and acne-prone skin, but I will pass it along to my daughter.

Franklin & Whitman Walnut Hill Face Serum ($39.95) “Our Walnut Hill Face Serum is a richly concentrated anti-aging face treatment designed to deeply hydrate and nourish your skin.”

Grapeseed, argan, rosehip seed, and pomegranate seed oils along with vitamin E are the ingredients of this facial oil.

I used it on freshly washed skin and while it spread easily it did take a while for my skin to soak it up, and I have dry skin. I wasn’t impressed with the plastic bottle, I do wish it was in glass. I was happy to find it really didn’t have a scent and my skin seemed to like it.

Franklin & Whitman Bella Vista Lip Balm ($11.95) “This deeply nourishing, antioxidant-rich lip balm moisturizes, protects, and primes with an invigorating, delicious blend of peppermint, rosemary, and orange.”

I have really appreciated that all of the ingredients have been listed on these containers.

Simply rub your finger over the balm and then apply it to your lips. I liked the minty citrus taste and it helped keep my lips soft overnight.

Pearlesque is a fun way to discover natural and cruelty-free beauty brands. Serums show up frequently, body care less often but there will be the occasional body oil. I liked the fact that the Franklin & Whitman products were very clean, so clean that they should be tossed after two months since they don’t have preservatives, but the packaging was just plastic containers. This wasn’t a big deal to me except with the serum –  at $39.95 a bottle it sort of cheapened the experience. Of course, it is easier to carry it in a travel bag. Other than that, I really enjoyed trying these products and would be happy to find the brand in future subscription boxes. The items from the March shipment were worth $98.80!
