There are LOTS of snacks in this box!

This month’s theme is VALENTINE’S DAY!

Included in the box is a booklet that lists the contents of the box, as well as some fun food and cultural info about Japan. There are 3 different subscription levels available: The Mini includes 5 items, the Original includes those items PLUS another 5 items, and the Premium includes those 10 items PLUS another 5 items.

Inside the booklet is a chart of contents that lists all the snacks from three different box sizes. The tiers are cumulative, so our Premium Box has everything on the page!

Look, the bottom of the box features a cute drawing!

Everything in my February 2019 box!

Shimi Choco Strawberry Shortcake. We’ve tried this puffed snack before in chocolate flavor and it was good. This time, we got it in strawberry shortcake flavor. Each piece is sweet, light, and just as crunchy and totally coated in strawberry chocolate!

New Mochitaro. Mochitaro is a known dagashi snack, or a cheap and relatively small Japanese snack. It’s also called a rice puff, but it isn’t actually made with rice. Instead, it contains wheat flour and starch. It’s a bit salty and has a crispy texture as well.

Heart Chocolate. Japan Crate included this heart-shaped chocolate in the box so we could share a treat to a loved one this love month! It’s small but definitely yummy.

Crispy Chocolate Rice Cereal. Malt and rice cereal were combined in this satisfying snack bar. It’s crispy and sweet, perfect as a quick afternoon snack to boost your mood. It does taste malty as well. When you snap it in two, you’ll see the rice crispies embedded in the bar.

Umaibo Chocolate. Umaibo is a staple snack in Japan. It’s a puffy, cylindrical-shaped corn snack with a variety of flavors. This month’s box includes a chocolate-flavored umaibo. As always, it’s crunchy and tasty. It’s a real hit with my kids!

Horadekita Chocolate Banana Soft Candy. Each month, Japan Crate includes a Do-It-Yourself candy in the box.

For February, we’re making a chocolate-banana soft candy.

As always, the back of the packaging features a step-by-step procedure on how to make your own candy.

The instructions on the packaging are written in Japanese, but Japan Crate usually provides a translation that you can find in the booklet.

Here are all the items included in the DIY candy kit: banana candy, chocolate, sprinkles, tray, and toothpick.

The first step is to put everything on the tray. Then, put the banana candy on the toothpick.

Dip the banana in the creamy chocolate and on the sprinkle candies.

Here’s our finished product!

It was soft and sweet. My kids loved it so much!

Strawberry Mousse. These delectable treats are bon-bon shaped chocolates filled with mousse-like strawberry cream fillings. Each pack comes with individually wrapped bite-sized treats which you can enjoy alone, or share with your friends and family. The combination of chocolate and strawberry is really a classic. It’s so good, it melts in the mouth!

Marble Petit Pack. This snack reminds me of M&M milk chocolate, as it has the same features. The triangular pouch contains disk-shaped creamy milk chocolate pieces. They’re also coated with a sweet and crispy hard shell.

Rilakkuma Gum. Rilakkuma made an appearance in this month’s box, and it’s on the wrapper of this refreshingly flavorful and chewy gum! It’s chewy with a long-lasting sweet taste, inspired by soda.

Choco Taro. This snack features a well-balanced sweet and salty taste coming from a chocolate coating, plus a perfect combination of velvety and crispy characteristics of corn on the inside.

KitKat Hojicha. This version of KitKat is an exclusive treat only sold in the Kansai region of Japan. It’s a collaborative work between KitKat and Itohkyuemon, a famous tea maker from Kyoto. This pack contains 12 individually wrapped bite-sized KitKats. And like all other KitKat snacks, it contains the brand’s well-known milk chocolate.

Mysterious Chocolate Ball Chocolate Banana. We got another banana-chocolate treat, and this time they’re in the form of tiny chocolate orb balls. Each piece contains a crunchy cocoa cookie center and coated with a crispy banana-flavored coating.

Roll Candy Grape. This one is definitely not your ordinary candy. It’s a 50 cm long chewy candy that you can easily tear and enjoy wherever. It’s packed with a refreshing grape flavor.

Arigatou Chocolate. You’ll probably say arigatou (thank you) once you have tasted this delicious candy. This treat also resembles M&M’s candy but certainly much tastier and yummier!

Hello Kitty Candy. It’s a Hello Kitty-themed candy! There’s no special taste with this strawberry flavored candy, its just that it features the most loved kitty of all.

Angel Pie Mini Strawberry. Angel Pie is made of chocolate coated biscuits with a strawberry marshmallow filling. This box contains 8 individually packed pies, which you can consume separately or share with your loved ones. The stuffing is as soft as clouds in the sky!

Apollo Petit Pack. These triangular chocolate treats left me wanting for more. We all know that chocolate and strawberry is always a great combination, and this one we got here is the best example of it. These candies can be eaten as is or added to other desserts like cakes and ice cream.

Hokkaido Creamy Luxury Chocolate Can. This drink is a dream come true for every chocolate lover! It contains cacao and Hokkaido cream for the ultimate satisfaction!

It’s another box filled to the brim with Japanese snacks and treats! Trying each one with the whole family is always a delight and the February box was just super great and full of love. These snacks speak a lot about the local snacking culture, and they also let us experience the flavors unique to the country. As usual, we loved the variety because there were savory snacks, chocolates, and even candies. Whether you’re a fan of Japanese snacks or you just love snacking in general, this snack box would be an excellent choice!
