December’s OwlCrate theme is Power of Illusions. OwlCrate always has the best info card prints. One side is a print representing the theme and the other side is the information for the box contents.

The information card tells a little bit about all the items in this month’s box along with little comments on why they were selected or other fun tidbits. The theme follows through even with the info. It is always decorated to go along with that month.

Everything in my December OwlCrate box.

In addition to the information card, we get a booklet with more info on the author and theme.

Every month the book comes in a plastic sleeve to protect it in travel. There is a sticker on the outside of the back letting us know that it is exclusive. I peel this sticker off and place it on the inner sleeve of the jacket.

This month’s exclusive cover! I’m a purple fan so I love the OwlCrate cover!

Amber & Dusk by Lyra Selene ($12.87) – Navigating a new city with a secret power in a faraway land always sounds so mysterious and intriguing. I can’t imagine going away and all that it might imply. Amber & Dusk sounds like it will have lots of different twists and turns and I can’t wait to see where it leads.

Sylvie has always known she deserves more. Out in the permanent twilight of the Dusklands, her guardians called her power to create illusions a curse. But Sylvie knows it gives her a place in Coeur d’Or, the palais of the Amber Empress and her highborn legacies.

So Sylvie sets off toward the Amber City, a glittering jewel under a sun that never sets, to take what is hers.

But her hope for a better life is quickly dimmed. The empress invites her in only as part of a wicked wager among her powerful courtiers. Sylvie must assume a new name, Mirage, and begin to navigate secretive social circles and deadly games of intrigue in order to claim her spot. Soon it becomes apparent that nothing is as it appears and no one, including her cruel yet captivating sponsor, Sunder, will answer her questions. As Mirage strives to seize what should be her rightful place, she’ll have to consider whether it is worth the price she must pay.

The book also came with a note from the author.

As we have gotten the last couple of months the books don’t only have an exclusive cover but it is signed by the author.

We also got an amber pendant necklace to go along with our story.

Oh yes! I love the Lunar Chronicles series and can’t wait to burn this candle from Flick the Wick inspired but the Lunar Queen herself.

Purple is my favorite color so the candle got even more fantastic when I opened it up.

Such a detailed exclusive ornament designed just for OwlCrate by Juniper and Ivy Designs. This stunning ornament was inspired by The Crown’s Game.

OwlCrate magnets are always so strong and very detailed. This one is no exception. Inspired by The Circus of Dreams this exclusive magnet from Ink and Wonder Designs was inspired by the love of the magical book. Each month we also get a pin inspired by the monthly theme.

How better to carry all my books and other OwlCrate goodies then in a new tote bag designed by Stella Bookish. This gorgeous tote was inspired by the character Legend from the Caraval and Legendary!

Ehhhh!!!! I love the planned that came in last years box so I’m more then stoked to get a new and improved version this year. This exclusive reading planner designed by Blue Star Press has me ready to dive into my reading journey for the year. Do you all make a reading plan and/or goal for the year? I’m going to make a simple goal of at least fifteen books for the year which shouldn’t be bad since I read my OwlCrate book each month and then I’ll just need to read a couple more along the way.

The monthly pages are open and can be designed to fit any month.

I’m also inspired by some of the extra pages in the planner that don’t give me too much room to ramble on and on about the books. I’ll need to be short and concise and straight to the point. I can get a bunch down for the month.

My box also included a short excpert from the upcoming Shadow Game Series book King of Fools coming out April 30th.

Owl Crate always has the most well curated boxes. The themes are so well thought out and there is so much planning I’m sure involved for each item to make so much sense.  This box is flippin’ fantastic and with them sending another reading planner and a tote bag is a great way to start off the year and have me ready to read for the whole year to come.
