Birchbox is a beauty sample subscription box that sends 5 new items to test out each month so you can try before you buy. Birchbox is $10 a month and you can choose a monthly sample during selection time, let Birchbox decide, or pick a pre-curated box. This is a review of a monthly box without sample choice.

I filled out a profile when I joined so I could let Birchbox know which types of items I would like to receive, plus I selected my skin type, hair type, and other info so they could send products that work for me.

Back in November I purchased a year-long gift subscription to Birchbox and saved 25%, and then gifted it to myself! This brought my price per box way down, to around $7 a box or something like that. The only problem with that was that my first box was a customer favorites box. The box itself looked like a regular December box though.

The information card gives brief details on each item as well as the price if you were to buy the full size. Keep in mind that Birchbox sends a variety of product combos each month and your box may vary from mine.

My items were packed simply in the box, and what a cute box it is! I reuse my boxes by setting them out on my dresser to corral beauty items, plus they stack nicely in my closet for the overflow items.

Everything in the box!

Air Repair Complexion-Boosting Moisturizer ($2.76) has hyaluronic acid in the ingredients, which is supposed to draw water to the skin. It also has green tea for its protective, antioxidant properties. It goes on smoothly and dries quickly without any greasiness. It has a light floral scent.

Vasanti Makeup Magnet Wipes ($4) I think these are smaller wipes than what you would find in the full-sized package, so it’s hard to tell how many of these would be needed to fully clean my face. I used them on my eyes and face and thought they worked pretty well as a first cleansing step. I always follow up with another cleanser since I don’t want any makeup or impurities clogging my pores overnight.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle ($7.50 Travel-Size 2 oz.) I love the scent of this product line and have even owned the body wash and body butter in the past, they smell divine! As for the conditioner, I’m not a fan of leave-ins since I have hair that is easily weighed down, but my daughters will probably fight over this sample because it works really well and again, it smells so goooood!

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner ($12.57) is a classic for making a cat eye or even for every day wear.

It goes on smoothly and is easy to maneuver.

Mellow Cosmetics Liquid Lip Paint in Auckland ($7.27) is a liquid lip color that dries to a long-lasting matte finish.

The shade “Auckland” is described as a warm-toned nude. It’s very similar to a NYX lip product that I received in a different subscription box this month. I was very happy with both the color and finish and although I didn’t get all day wear it did last til lunchtime.

Here are the eye liner and lipstick swatched on my arm.

Although most of these products were items I’ve tried before in previous Birchboxes, I was happy to get them again because they are customer favorites for a reason! I think the lip color was the only new-to-me product and I was very happy with both the color and performance. My box had a value of around $34.10, which is great considering that I paid about $7 for the box when it was on sale!
