Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, playlists, a fragrance bonus item, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

Your subscription also entitles you to PLAY! Date meetups if your store participates. I don’t even have a Sephora (not even a JCP one) but this box totally excites me even without those experiences. I love the high-end brands every month for just $10.

The pouch is really cute and playful! The design is vibrant and see-through at the same time. So you can have a subtle peek on the contents without the need to open it.

Love the caption! This is different from the pouches we had in the past. It’s more handy and useful. It is more convenient to put in a bag as it doesn’t take as much space and it’s reusable because of its resealable opening (and it’s totally recyclable they said too!).

That little card is a PLAY! Pass that will get you 50 extra Beauty Insider points with a purchase from the box, in-store or online. You can also get a complimentary mini makeover!

The info card has a really cute illustration of this month’s theme and a lot of helpful tips on skin care and makeup.

This 5-minute office makeover makes sense! You don’t have any reason to look unprepared and to say no to parties!

This survival pocket guide is preparing us for the holiday cheer and festivities!

They are all in travel-sized packaging.

This month’s theme is Merry & Bright!

This fold-out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus beauty trivia and tips. You can access all of the information and also watch the videos right on the Sephora site or use the app to scan the sheet for more info!

Everything in my box! See the spoilers for all the variations here.

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick ($3.31) This silky and long-wearing liquid lipstick is highly-pigmented. The formula applies smoothly on the lips and it’s pretty lightweight too. It is infused with avocado oil so it won’t dry the lips but it won’t be sticky either.

You can apply it directly to lips and start in the center and fill out outwardly towards the corners of the mouth.

I love how they managed to have a mini-sized lippie with a wand applicator. It’s a cute addition to any travel purse.

I love the color. It can be my go-to shade now! It’s nude with a punch!

Amika Perk Up Dry Conditioner ($3.67) Formulated with provitamin B5, this dry shampoo reduces split ends and softens and strengthens hair. It is cruelty-free and vegan-friendly. The formula also doesn’t contain sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, oil, mineral oil, sodium chloride, petrochemicals, and artificial colors. To use, just shake well, hold 8 inches away, and spray onto dry hair from mid-length to ends. It is also safe for hair that has undergone a lot of chemical treatments.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser ($3.66) This is a hyped product that offers solutions for pores, dryness, and uneven skin tone. It’s a highly effective facial cleanser that tones and hydrates skin at the same time. It uses natural oils to deeply cleanse the skin and can be gentle enough to use around the eye area. You can even use this fragrance-free formula to clean makeup brushes because it can dissolve the dirt, makeup, and grime. Use twice a day and gently massage to damp face for 30 to 60 seconds, rinse and pat dry.

My main complaint with this product is ongoing – it uses parabens, and I wish they would drop it from an item called Purity!

Lancôme Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Gel Moisturizer ($4.80) Many moisturizers tend to be heavy and greasy, but this gel moisturizer isn’t. Infused with rose and salicylic acid, it’s lightweight yet it provides intense hydration to dry skin while removing flakes. The formula also calms, soothes, protects, and increases luminosity even on sensitive skin. It smells wonderful too!

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($8.36) It’s a well-reviewed and hyped loose setting powder! I like its silky consistency that provides a sheer coverage to set makeup, absorb oil, and reduce shine all day. There’s no flashback so it makes you look good in photos and it’s denser than average powder so it can be blended effortlessly.

I repeat, NO GHOST FACE!

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue ($5.80) Even though it’s an old-time favorite, many still can’t resist its freshness. This has notes of Sicilian citron, jasmine sambac, white rose, cedarwood, and amber.

The scent is well-loved by both men and women and a favorite!

I can totally pack these essentials to my travel kit and I’ll be good to go! I can freshen up instantly even when there’s limited time to prepare. I also love the lipstick’s color plus the fresh scent of the D&G perfume. My hair won’t be hopeless either as I have the handy dry conditioner to save the day. For a $10 subscription, I got about $34 worth of items from nice brands. It’s a good deal any day. Not my fave box, but I loved the loose powder and the dry spray!
