Technically Wrong by Sara Wachter-Boettcher ($10.97)
“An entertaining romp that tells us where and why the tech industry, once America’s darling, went wrong, and what it might do to recover its good graces.” ―Tim Wu, author of The Master Switch
Buying groceries, tracking our health, finding a date: whatever we want to do, odds are that we can now do it online. But few of us realize just how many oversights, biases, and downright ethical nightmares are baked inside the tech products we use every day. It’s time we change that.
In Technically Wrong, Sara Wachter-Boettcher demystifies the tech industry, leaving those of us on the other side of the screen better prepared to make informed choices about the services we use―and to demand more from the companies behind them.
A Wired Top Tech Book of the Year
A Fast Company Best Business and Leadership Book of the Year
This book promises empowerment, not only for women but for other readers as well, as they can pick up a lot of stuff from it!
Those who are in or outside the “tech world” can learn a lot from the book. It’s a good read as it presents everything we need to know, from the blunders of the industry to its uses!
We all live digitally nowadays so it’s just right that we know even the pros and cons of the technical aspects of stuff. This book definitely helps us to understand our “new world.”
The Feminist Book Club is such an empowering subscription. The book alone makes the subscription worth it, but we even got a self-care item, a pack of tea, and a snack to munch on while reading. First impressions matter and they definitely gave me a good one. I’m looking forward to discovering a lot of other feminist reads I can add to my shelf, as well as artwork from talented artists!
