I am reviewing The Apostrophe Box DELUXE. My items were packed in shredded paper squiggles and a breakable item was wrapped in bubble wrap.

I received a 3 x 5 card with info on the products in my box. Genres may vary each month and for October it was Fantasy/Folklore. Subscribers do not get to choose their favorite genre or book, but the featured book is announced ahead of time on Facebook and Instagram in case you want to skip a box. Non-fiction books may also be sent.

Looking good!

Everything in my box!

I received another postcard-sized card with the intention of this subscription box.

The back of the card said “thank you” and listed some social media sites in case you want to follow them.

I received a cardboard drink coaster.

I received a bookmark.

Forever Caffeinated Iron-On Patch ($7.50) is 3″ across and has adhesive on the back. Show the world that you run on caffeine.

Brothers Fruit Crisps ($1.04) is the snack this month. My daughter loves freeze-dried fruit so I passed it along to her. I prefer these over coconut-oil fried banana chips as these are fruitier and melt instantly once they hit my mouth.

Read Good Books Coffee Mug (find similar item here, $9.99) I like the sentiment on this mug and thought it was cute. I was a little disappointed when I was washing it to find the bottom of the mug had a rough edge.

James Coffee Co. Shop Blend Whole Bean ($15) Apostrophe Box will often send whole bean coffee and recommends that subscribers purchase a coffee grinder. I don’t own one (it’s on my list) but my daughter has one so I am sending this bag back with her since college students run on caffeine.

The back of the bag gave brewing instructions. Although I didn’t open the bag I can smell the amazing scent coming off of it and my daughter seemed really happy to have this coffee, which is made with organic Arabica beans and has flavor notes of vanilla and chocolate.

The Sisters Of The Winter Wood By Rena Rossner ($27 list price, now $17.50) I checked out the reviews of this book on Amazon and it has a 4.5 star rating! It falls under the fantasy genre and takes place in Russia. It follows two sisters and I believe it is a coming of age story and every other chapter is written like a poem.

Captivating and boldly imaginative, with a tale of sisterhood at its heart, Rena Rossner’s debut fantasy invites you to enter a world filled with magic, folklore, and the dangers of the woods.

“Intricately crafted, gorgeously rendered…full of heart, history, and enchantment.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

In a remote village surrounded by vast forests on the border of Moldova and Ukraine, sisters Liba and Laya have been raised on the honeyed scent of their Mami’s babka and the low rumble of their Tati’s prayers. But when a troupe of mysterious men arrives, Laya falls under their spell – despite their mother’s warning to be wary of strangers. And this is not the only danger lurking in the woods.

As dark forces close in on their village, Liba and Laya discover a family secret passed down through generations. Faced with a magical heritage they never knew existed, the sisters realize the old fairy tales are true…and could save them all.

“With luscious and hypnotic prose, Rena Rossner tells a gripping, powerful story of family, sisterhood, and two young women trying to find their way in the world.” –Madeline Miller, author of The Song of Achilles and Circe

I was happy with my first Apostrophe Box! The book is huge and will take me a while to read it but it looks like an interesting read. My daughter happily ate the snack and my other daughter can’t wait to try her coffee. The swag was ok, I can always use a bookmark but don’t really have a use for patches. I like the mug but believe the quality could be stepped up, even the ones at the dollar store have finished edges but maybe I just got a dud. The value was around $51.03 which is just over the price paid for the subscription plus shipping.
