Plated is a weekly dinner kit subscription box with high-quality ingredients and chef-created recipes. Each week you’ll choose from a variety of quick gourmet meals that range from meats, chicken, and seafood, to purely vegetarian options. There’s enough selection to please all palates, and the recipes are seasonally focused. You can choose any lineup of recipes from the available options and skip any week you don’t want.

The food is set atop a cardboard barrier, preventing any frost damage to the more delicate veggies from the ice in the lower compartment.

Each Plated dish has its own recipe card with a beautiful photo showing a plating suggestion for the completed dish.

On-card information is streamlined and includes only prep-time, number of servings and calorie count. Most of Plated’s meals serve two people. Unless stated otherwise, our pics of finished dishes show a single serving.

Plated’s recipes often rely on mise en place, prepping everything before cooking. We’ve always been willing to shift steps around when its more efficient, and Plated sometimes does this too, getting you started on long lead-time items ahead of general prep.

Everything in the box!

All the food comes bagged up and separated (mostly) into the recipes – meat and some large or delicate items are bagged separately. The recipe cards tell you anything you need from home – usually just cookware, salt and pepper, and some olive oil – occasionally you’ll need an egg.

Gochujang Beef Meatballs with Broccolini and Sesame Scallion Rice – 35 minutes, Medium, 830 calories per serving

It’s a Korean dish made from meatballs infused with gochujang seasonings (a combination of salt, spices, and chili paste), roasted together with soy and apricot glaze for additional depth. The sticky rice and roasted broccolini on the sides make it really filling — broccolini cooks up so well, that it is our new fave vegetable. It’s topped with sesame seeds for a nice crunch and visual appeal. liked the simplicity of prep for this dish, too. We roasted, boiled, fried, and simmered simultaneously, but each task was simple enough that they could all be juggled together.

Chicken Marsala with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes – 45 minutes, Easy, 710 Calories per serving

This delicious Italian dish is made from meaty seasoned chicken breasts mixed with sautéed mushrooms and drizzled with a Marsala wine cream sauce. It’s served together with crispy fingerling potatoes roasted with rosemary. What makes this dish differ from the ordinary is the Marsala sauce, which is great with both the chicken and the potatoes. Marsala sauce commands a steep premium in Italian restaurants, but this version was just as delicious and easy to make.

Plated keeps sending delicious and easy-to-prepare dishes in every box! Their ingredients always are in great shape, and we haven’t had any delivery-damage or proper-temperature issues in ages. Of course, I also appreciate the inclusion of the illustrated recipe card. It’s so detailed and very easy to understand and follow. This is a very reliable subscription for those who like slightly upscale restaurant fare, as the dishes are often slightly streamlined versions of decadent classics. We always look forward to our wonderful dishes from Plated!
