The theme this month:
Japan is without a doubt, a country of foodies. There are so many different types of food (and snacks) that you can’t find anywhere else. This month, we feature 2 specific ingredients which are native to Japan: Yuzu and Wasabi.
Yuzu (柚子) is a popular citrus fruit in Japan that is used in all types of Japanese cuisines but rarely found outside of the country. Yuzu has a very fragrant aroma and refreshing flavor that’s less tart than other citrus fruits.
Did you also know that Japanese people didn’t start out using wasabi in their food for the flavor or kick? They actually used it to preserve food and keep raw food fresh because wasabi has anti-bacterial properties.
