Notification

Owl Crate is a monthly subscription of books and bookish items. Each OwlCrate contains one new Young Adult novel, as well as 3-5 other bookish items all matched to the monthly theme. OwlCrate always sends the best items to go along with their theme with the hottest new books out there.

August’s OwlCrate theme is Ruthless & Royals. OwlCrate always has the best info card prints. One side is a print representing the theme and the other side is the information for the box contents.

The information card tells a little bit about all the items in this month’s box along with little comments on why they were selected or other fun tidbits. The theme follows through even with the info. It is always decorated to go along with that month.

Everything in my August OwlCrate box.

In addition to the information card, we get a booklet with more info on the author and theme.

We get interviews with the author and some of the suppliers of the extra items, a sneak peek of the next OwlCrate and a comparison of the exclusive cover versus the regular cover.

The book comes in a plastic bag each month and the exclusive cover sticker is on the outside of the bag.

I take the sticker off the bag and place it on the inside sleeve of the jacket. This way I will always know why the book looks different then what I can see online if I was to go to look.

Grace and Fury by Tracy Bangham ($12.59) – Oh my this sounds so good. I loved the TV show Reign and this reminds me a bit of Mary’s Ladies in Waiting who are her best friends and would do anything for her. I can’t even imagine if they had been actual sisters and had not only the friendship but the fierce loyalty of family all mixed into one. This is going to be a great fall read curled up waiting for the leaves to turn.

Bold, brutal, and beautiful–a must-read fantasy full of fierce sisterhood, action, and political intrigue for fans of The Selection series, Caraval, and The Handmaid’s Tale.

Serina Tessaro has been groomed her whole life to become a Grace–someone to stand by the heir to the throne as a shining, subjugated example of the perfect woman. It’s her chance to secure a better life for her family, and to keep her headstrong and rebellious younger sister, Nomi, out of trouble. But when Nomi catches the Heir’s eye instead, Serina is the one who takes the fall for the dangerous secret her sister has been hiding.
Trapped in a life she never wanted, Nomi has only one option: surrender to her role as a Grace until she can use her position to save Serina. But this is easier said than done…. A traitor walks the halls of the palazzo, and deception lurks in every corner.
Meanwhile Serina is running out of time. Imprisoned on an island where she must fight to the death to survive, surrounded by women stronger than she is, one wrong move could cost her everything. There is no room for weakness on Mount Ruin, especially weaknesses of the heart.
Thrilling and captivating, Grace and Fury is a story of fierce sisterhood, and of survival in a world that’s determined to break you.

Not only did we get an exclusive cover this month but it is also signed by the author!

The book also came with a note from the author and a bookmark.

I was so excited when I saw this cute little pouch in my bag and had no idea what was in it.  When I opened it up and saw the pocket mirror. It was so excited.  This is designed on the Belles by Catarina Book Designs.

Opened up its a double sided mirror and this one is going right on my desk in my office.

This agate ring is STUNNING! The stone is large and in charge and gorgeous in color and look. I’ll be wearing this one when I go out and about. This ring was created by GeoCentral.

It only seems right that we get bookmarks in a book box. Add the usefulness of bookmarks to my love of Disney villains and these magnetic bookmarks by Craftedvan are squeal-worthy.

While the front is the iconic figure the back is their alter-ego. I want to say how stinkin’ cute these are but cute seems like the wrong word for villains. Let’s just go with they are awesome.

Faerie’s are always something that I’m intrigued by. While they are so small and all things small are cute they are mischievous and seem to always be causing trouble. This book tin by Stella Bookish Art has artwork inspired by The Cruel Prince. I really do like when Owlcrate has items inspired by past books they’ve sent us. It feels like it brings things around in a full circle.

Not sure what I’ll be storing in here. I’m thinking maybe the bookmarks that have come in the different Owlcrate boxes.  That way they are all in one spot and I can dig in and grab the one I want to use.

Another interesting item to get in my box this month. This is a tea towel from Little Inklings Designs inspired by the resilient Celena Sardothien from the Throne of Glass series.

The constellations and the color and the font used. A perfect tea towel. Not sure where I’ll display it. It seems so wrong for people to wipe their fingers on it.

There is also a card in the box with an add and the pin that represents the theme we get each month.

Owl Crate sent a royal box this month. So many items that are unique and exclusive to Owlcrate. They always send the most well-curated and theme specific items each month. I can really tell the thought that has gone into each box. This month I’m really in awe of the gorgeous ring and the tea towel just makes me smile.  They are both items I don’t already have which is always great and I get all the happy feels just looking at them.  I really feel I get my money’s worth with this box each time I open it up.
