Everything in our box!

Through this activity, the kids will develop early literacy and vocabulary, numeracy and mathematics, motor skills and physical development, and social skills.

There are some rules and how tos for this game, and they’re listed in this page.

They also listed the cognitive/academic skills the kids will develop, so as the social and emotional skills.

You’ll get a checklist on what you’ll get for this month’s box. How exciting!

Here’s everything you need to get started: note from Johnny, flashcards, grocery list, map, ice cream recipe, shopping list, ice cream card and wax stick kit.

The kids ticked the items on the list that they already have.

He lost his special coin and he needs our help.

First up is to identify the mystery flavor of the ice cream. The kids need to scratch and sniff the small circle on this card.

Have you guessed the flavor?

The kids take turns on scratching and smelling and guessing…

…and it’s chocolate-flavored ice cream!

The next task is to help Mr. Wallace to gather the ingredients for his ice cream.

Mr. Wallace will make a Strawberry Banana Choco-chip Ice Cream. He’ll need frozen strawberries, frozen bananas, milk, small vanilla bean, chocolate chips, and Graham crackers.

You can also make your own! In this card, encircle your favorite ice cream flavor, mix-ins, toppings, and even make your own ice cream name!

The kids discussed what ice cream will they make.

I am seeing a mint flavored ice cream mixed with choco chips and topped with cherries and sprinkles! Chocolate Cherry Mint Ice Cream, right? That sounds delicious!

The flashcards and wax sticks come to play in this activity as the kids follow Mr. Wallace’s path through the store!

The cards need to be matched (or found) in the store.

The kids pointed out the matching items from the card in the store.

Some of the picture cards also help the kids to write the letters where each item starts off.

Each card also includes bonus activities and other questions to ask. For example, the banana card has some questions like what color are the bananas, are bananas fruits or vegetables, and so on.

They can use the wax sticks to form the letters… like I which stands for ice cream!

Here’s one where they traced the big and small letter S… which stands for strawberries!

Here’s Mr. Wallace’s shopping checklist.

The kids can also answer the question at the back which asks about the items they like to buy at the grocery store.

They found all the ingredients!

Going back to Mr. Wallace (at the website), he is now asking what’s the most important ingredient for ice cream…

The receipt after shopping is really important as it holds the key to reveal Mr. Wallace’s route… The order total that is!

There’s another activity where we need to connect the dots using the wax sticks to reveal the shape…

The first shape they were able to solve looks like a yummy ice cream cone…

It’s a delicious ice cream! I like the creativity in this one. They also put some effort into making the ice cream special with swirls of colorful syrup!

Where are they headed next? The website says that the next stop is the ZOO. Is it where we can get back Johnny’s coin? Yes!

Again, the kids really did a great job to solve the mysteries for Johnny… But where’s Johnny? Anyway, the kids really had fun doing all the activities in this box and it tests their mental and artistic skills as well. The fun part is that everyone can be involved in solving the mystery physically and digitally, it’s a great bonding activity for the whole family. Now, the kids want some ice cream after following Mr. Wallace’s journey in making his ice cream and driving his ice cream truck! The Chocolate Cherry Mint ice cream the kids whipped up in one of the activities sounds great! It’s really interactive and fun, we’re giving this subscription 2 thumbs up and a cherry on top!
