Birchbox is a beauty sample subscription box that sends 5 new items to test out each month so you can try before you buy. Birchbox is $10 a month and you can choose a monthly sample during selection time, let Birchbox decide, or pick a pre-curated box. This is a review of the curated box, so I knew which samples were coming ahead of time.

The box shown here is still available in the shop for $10 ($15 for non subscribers).

DEAL:  For a limited time use coupon code GALGLOW to get a FREE mini Benefit Cosmetics GALifornia Sunny Golden Pink Blush (a $15 value!) when you join Birchbox. The warm pink shade gives a gorgeous golden state glow with your first month of a Birchbox subscription!

It’s Birchbox’s 8th anniversary so keep an eye out for Customer Appreciation surprises in September!

The information card gives brief details on each item as well as the price if you were to buy the full size.

This is a review of the September 2018 Curated Box, which is now available in the Birchbox Shop! The box is $10 for subscribers ($15 for non-subscribers).

Everything in the September 2018 Birchbox Curated Box!

Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer ($1.98) Yay for K-Beauty products! This is a classic dimethicone-based primer that gives skin a silky feel and I must say I had a pretty skin day when I gave it a try. It felt a little more moisturizing than the usual primers and took a bit longer to dry so I did other chores for 5 minutes while letting it soak into my skin.

HUM Nutrition Hair Sweet Hair Gummies ($0.83) I like vitamins and supplements. Although you can get most of the nutrients you need through food, I feel like vitamins are kind of like a backup just in case you missed something.

These gummies may help plug the nutritional gaps and help improve your hair. They are vegan and gluten-free.

They were shaped like hearts (❤) and had a delicious berry flavor, with no weird aftertaste.

R+Co PARK AVE Blow Out Balm ($2.90) I’m not usually a fan of this type of product since my hair is fine and gets weighed down easily. I was surprised to find that my strands looked good after blow-drying. I used a small amount and combed it through clean, damp hair before blow-drying. It smelled nice but not overpowering and the scent faded quickly.

Sunday Riley Good Genes All-in-One Lactic Acid Treatment ($17.85) Ooh, this is a pricey product! Cactus, prickly pear, and blue agave are some of the ingredients in this treatment that is supposed to help brighten, plump, and smooth skin. Start by using twice weekly and then work up to twice a day and remember to use sunscreen. It has a light lemon scent and isn’t sticky.

Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick in Patina Shimmer ($11) I was very happy to see this in my box because Stila lippies stay on my lips for a long time and I was excited to see a color that looked like it could work for me. Plus, this sample is half of the full-sized product!

Patina Shimmer is described as a “shimmering Dusty Rose” but I would say rose gold.

It looked great on my lips, I didn’t even have to mix it with a different color to make it lighter or darker. It was more moisturizing than the other shades I have tried but this was a clear winner for me!

thisworks deep sleep pillow spray ($1.97) I am always happy to see this product pop up in subscription boxes! It has various essential oils inside – patchouli, ho wood, lavender, chamomile, vetiver – and smells warm and relaxing. Just spray it over your pillow and sheets and take a deep breath before getting into bed. Sweet dreams!

I was super impressed with the September Curated Birchbox! I was very happy with the samples I received and especially loved the lip color. The other items worked really well too and I was excited to try a pricey skin care product. The value was around $36.53, which is pretty darn good!
