Shipping was extremely fast and I traveled vicariously through my FedEx tracker. My box left India on a Thursday, was in Dubai on Friday, Paris on Saturday, Tennessee Sunday morning, Austin Sunday evening, and my house Monday morning! My box was pretty beat up but everything inside was perfectly intact.

The back of the card mentioned what makes Teabox teas so fresh and told how to reach them on social media.
I love tea!
Everything in my box!
I wasn’t expecting to find a scroll in my box. Will it lead to buried treasure? I already have my Teabox, and that’s almost the same thing.
It was a little story about some of the people who work on a tea estate and their relatives from long ago.
I received 5 bags of tea – 4 black teas and 1 green. Each bag holds 1.06 oz of tea, or enough for 60-75 cups. It’s a good amount of tea!
Each bag clearly lists the tea name, aroma, palate, region of origin, level of caffeine, and steeping instructions. I was very impressed with this info. Nothing frustrates me more than receiving tea with vague or no info on steeping but Teabox knows what they are doing! It even lists the date it was picked!
Tea Box Lopchu Golden Orange Pekoe Black Tea ($3.63) was just a lovely classic black tea. I tried this one twice – the hotter you heat the water, the stronger and more astringent it becomes.
Tea Box Barnesbeg Special Summer Green Tea ($3.63) Note that the green tea requires water that is under the boil, otherwise it can make the tea bitter. I may have let mine get just a bit too hot, it had the same kind of astringency as the black teas. It was sweet and even though it was supposed to have notes of cooked veggies and corn, I thought it reminded me of pineapple! I’m not usually into green tea but it was so similar to the black teas that I may need to change my way of thinking, it was unlike any other green tea I’ve tried!
Tea Box Castleton Special Spring Chinary Black Tea ($4.84) When I steep my usual PG Tips in the morning I can’t say that it smells like much. Opening up one of these pouches and taking a deep breath adds a mindfulness technique to my tea ritual. The astringency was pretty strong and tempered with a touch of sugar and milk. This one was almost like a strong green tea (green tea doesn’t stand up to milk) and I was surprised to find it was fruity.
Tea Box Oaks Classic Summer Chinary Black Tea ($3.33) had a deep flavor and astringent bite, a step up from the Pekoe shown above.
Tea Box Margaret’s Hope Classic Spring Black Tea ($4.54) was much lighter in body than the other black teas from this month. It had slight astringency and reminded me of an oolong, somewhere in between black and green tea.
Top left is Castleton, top right is Lopchu, middle is Barnesberg Green, bottom left is Margaret’s Hope, and bottom right is Oaks Classic. Since they looked kind of similar I wanted to capture them together to show you that they do indeed have differences. I poured these into a tin and now I can’t wait to try “Debbie’s Special Blend”!
I was blown away by Teabox this month! This was my first box from them and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the teas they sent. Each packet held a generous amount of tea, enough for plenty of cups this month, and possibly for several weeks to come. I appreciate what Teabox is doing, sending teas fresh from the farms. The quality was very high, no tea dust here.
What do you think of Tea Box? I’d love to know your thoughts about this box!
