Betty Boomerang is a bimonthly subscription box that delivers retro-style goodies for those who love the designs of the past. Get 4-5 retro-styled goodies, which may include exclusive pieces from retro-inspired artisans, for $49.00 every other month.
The theme this month is Totally Tiki!
The information card contains details about this month’s artist, Brian Rechenmacher. He’s been able to create an entire career out of Tiki, and having previously worked for Disney, we assume he has had a hand in making merchandise for one of our faves, The Enchanted Tiki Room.
The information card comes with the list of items, their retail price, and a short description. Betty usually thanks social sharers by throwing in an extra bonus and sometimes extra quantities of the regular box quantities. This month, Betty has shared a recipe for a classic Mai Tai!
Everything in my July 2018 Betty Boomerang box!
One of the items is wrapped in beautiful, glittery tissue paper, sealed with a Betty Boomerang sticker!
Tiki Sticker ($2.50) These Tikis always give me a fun summer vibe. This Tiki sticker is even shaped like a Tiki mug, complete with tiny umbrella and tropical fruit garnish on top!
Mid Mod Pin Tiki Enamel Pin – Perfecting for pinning to a sundress or beach bag, this grinning Tiki pin has tons of fun detail.
This made me want to grab a refreshing tropical drink and gaze at the open sea. The colors are really pretty too, as they skipped the wood finish and went with something a little brighter!
Betty Loves Studios Custom Umbrellas ($5.99) It’s a dozen cute little umbrellas for garnishing drinks and turning cocktail hour into Tiki Time!
Looking inside of it, it has a fully operational umbrella mechanism with runners and stretchers. You can actually open and close it just like a real umbrella!
Each umbrella has colorful Tiki heads on them!
Betty made sure to send our delicate items in protective containers.
Tiki Mug By Joe Vitale ($21) Here’s the brown Tiki Mug! When you’ve got the recipe for a delicious Tiki drink, and some garnish or decorations, you’ll also need a mug that will go with the theme!
The mug looks like it’s made of wood but it’s actually ceramic. I love the simple nuance in the paint job, with darkened indentations and tonal differences – it really gives it an authentic look!
It has a shiny black interior for easy cleaning and stain-resistance. Time to whip up some Mai Tais, Rum Swizzles, or Zombies!
Lithograph By Brian Rechenmacher ($30) Lithography is a beautiful way to make art by using immiscible mediums like oil and water, and this resulting artwork is simply awesome. The picture shows some colorful tropical birds relaxing on top of some happy-looking Tikis!
U Gotta Be Nutz Tiki Bar Snacks ($4) When you have drinks, you’ll also need some snacks to go with them! Betty included a big bag of Caramel and Sea Salt Cashews! Yum!
The nuts are grown in California. They are dry-roasted, gluten-free, cholesterol-free, non-GMO, and vegan.
They are crunchy and really tasty, with a balanced taste of sweet and salty – the coating is not overpowering, but it is addictive! I have to keep them away while we mix the drinks, or the bag will be empty before we even start! These are so good!
This edition of Betty Boomerang celebrates the MCM take on the colorful, beautiful, and fun Polynesian culture! Instead of complaining about the summer heat, this box made us think of many ways to enjoy the season. The Tiki items are all fun and they sure bring smiles to our faces, especially the beautiful Tiki mug. We can’t wait to try the Mai Tai recipe in this box and use the mug and umbrellas – all that we’re missing is the sound of the waves while basking under the summer sun! Just thinking about it, and looking at this box’s contents, make us really excited to go and take a beach getaway! We always look forward to this fun and retro box!
