Depending on whether you are bi-weekly or monthly and how many pets you have, the box can be pretty big!
We got a month’s worth of meals for our two dogs in the Heartland Beef flavor. Our box came with some Chicken Jerky treats and a set of samples of all their other flavors. This review primarily covers the Sampler Pack and all the flavors you can choose for your dog!
The food arrives covered with a gigantic ice pack and wrapped inside an insulated bag.
It stayed nice and chilling under all that ice! You can see our transition and daily packs filling out the cooler. On top is a Sampler Pack with all five flavors!
The box comes with a welcome booklet.
We believe dogs deserve to live healthier, happier, and longer lives. That’s why we created Nom Nom to be the healthiest dog food available.
Each recipe is expertly formulated and freshly prepared each week, just days before it reaches your dog’s bowl. We only use human-grade ingredients with no artificial preservatives and no fillers, to provide your pup with food good enough for you to eat (and ideally balanced for them). At Nom Nom, every meal is cooked fresh, delivered fresh, and served fresh.
The booklet also lists the benefits of giving your dogs fresh food: more energy, immune system maintenance, shinier coat, healthier skin, brighter eyes, and less waste.
Your dog’s first week on the plan, you should mix the provided half-size portions with a half-portion your dog’s current food. This helps your dog transition to the better food smoothly.
You have your very own Nom Nom account, where you can manage your deliveries and check out your dog’s nutrition dashboard!
All of the Nom Nom recipes are formulated by Dr. Justin Shmalberg, a certified veterinary nutritionist. When your food arrives, you just store a week’s worth in the refrigerator until needed. If you choose to have monthly deliveries, you simply rotate a single pack from the freezer to the fridge every time you feed one to your dog. This ensures that you always have a week of thawed meals queued up.
The booklet has detailed info on every recipe.
They provide a breakdown of the ingredients, plus the vitamins and minerals that dogs will get from each.
Beef, chicken, pork, they all have it here.
And they even have a meatless dish that gets its protein from eggs and veggies!
Free samples! I love freebies and neither Dean nor Lindy complained about, either!
A total of five dog food samplers were included in our Trial Pack Box: Heartland Beef Mash, Tasty Turkey Fare, Chicken Chow-Wow, Porkalicious Potluck, and Egg & Veggie Medley.
Heartland Beef Mash. This dog meal is made from ground beef, potatoes, carrots, peas, egg, fish oil and Nom Nom special nutrients mix.
It is all-natural and gluten free. Since it contains ground beef, it also provides dogs with protein, as well as vitamins and minerals for strong bones..
Beef is the main ingredient, but you can see the chunks of actual veggies included in the meal.
Lindy wasted no time! Once I served the food, she already went for it!
Hey Lindy, take a breather, no one will take that away from you!
Tasty Turkey Fare. It’s made with ground turkey, brown rice, carrots, spinach, egg, fish oil, and Nom Nom nutrients mix.
Turkey is a great source of protein, while brown rice is packed with carbohydrates that supplies your dogs with energy.
Those yellow lumps in the meal are actually eggs. Aside from protein, it’s also a great source of calcium, iron, and zinc. Again, a quick look at the ingredients and you can see how great this stuff is — meat, eggs, brown rice, veggies, and vitamins.
Dean is more tentative, but he was definitely into it.
But once he started eating this Tasty Turkey Fare, he couldn’t stop!
At this point, he has already fallen for the meal!
Chicken Chow-Wow. This meal is a healthy combination of chicken thighs, sweet potatoes, yellow squash, spinach, fish oil, and Nom Nom Nutrient mix.
This meal contains selenium that protects the blood vessels, and vitamin B12 that provides better nerve function regulation.
It’s so colorful! If my diet were made up of food like this, I’d be in great shape!
Lindy and Dean look so eager to have a sample of this meal!
Porkalicious Potluck. Just like as potluck for dogs, this meal includes pork, potatoes, kale, green beans zucchini, mushrooms, fish oil, and NomNomNow nutrient mix.
This meal is gluten-free and made with human-grade pork.
Since it contains green beans, the meal is rich in fiber which helps enhance your dog’s digestion.
Dean and Lindy shared the meal!
By simply looking at them, I could tell that they’re enjoying it!
Egg & Veggie Medley. This meal is perfect for dogs with dietary restrictions as it features antioxidant-rich veggies and eggs.
It also contains firm tofu, chia seeds, coconut oil, and of course Nom Nom nutrient mix.
It’s packed with calcium, protein, and fiber.
This veggie meal immediately caught Dean’s attention.
Soon, both Dean and Lindy were enjoying it. The plate was so clean when they left it!
This trial pack from Nom Nom can be useful if you want to test what flavors your dog prefers. In our case, it didn’t help us much because both Dean and Lindy devoured every sample! They loved everything so much that they licked their plates clean after every meal. It’s really good to know that the ingredients used in the meals are all natural and packed with vitamins and minerals that will support the nutrition of our beloved furry family members! Nothing is quite as satisfying as seeing them enjoy so heartily food that I know is nutritious and healthy. The quality is astounding — it didn’t have that “dog food” smell, because it’s real food! Every meal was very fresh and actually looked appetizing.
