Merida #1: Chasing Magic By Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen ($7.99)

Merida, the Princess of DunBroch, star of Disney‪/Pixar’s Brave, and the independent young woman who inspired a generation of girls to take up archery and explore forests to look for magical will o’ the wisps, is now the heroine of her own chapter book series. Adventure, magic, and friendship will find Merida in these new stories, perfect for girls and boys ages 6 to 10 who love Disney The Never Girls and Disney’s Anna & Elsa chapter books.

Being jealous is just part of growing up. But this story acknowledges it and makes the children realize they can harness it to something inspirational for them instead of having it put a negative vibe from their peers.

The scene in the story written on one page has a corresponding illustration on another. It is bordered by the arrows that are a nod to Merida’s expertise which is archery.

The Secret Life Of Pets By David Lewman ($7.99)

The Secret Life of Pets: The Deluxe Junior Novelization is the hardcover retelling of the hit movie!
The Secret Life of Pets: The Deluxe Junior Novelization
is a hardcover retelling of Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures’ The Secret Life of Pets, a comedy about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day. This hardcover edition features eight pages of full-color scenes from the movie, and is great for boys and girls 8 and up.

If you love the movie or you are curious but you haven’t watched it yet, having this book is beneficial in both ways. The illustrations in this book are colored too!

This page describes the scene where Gidget took a leap of faith, trusted and made a friend out of Tiberius despite his dangerous nature.

Alone In His Teacher’s House (Marvin Redpost #4) By Louis Sachar  ($3.99)

This chapter book in Newbery Honor–winning and bestselling author Louis Sachar’s Marvin Redpost series shows what happens when Marvin gets his first job.

Marvin is really excited to take care of his teacher’s dog while she’s away. He’ll even earn a bonus if he does a good job! And he gets to be alone in his teacher’s house! But when Mrs. North’s dog starts to look sick, Marvin isn’t sure he’ll get that bonus. In fact, Mrs. North may never talk to Marvin again!

Hilarious and relatable, Marvin Redpost is perfect for kids who love to bond with quirky characters like Junie B. Jones and George Brown, Class Clown.

This book is about honesty, responsibility, and how to face problems no matter how hard it gets.

This is the part of the story where Marvin takes responsibility for taking care of his teacher’s dog while she was away and his friends are making fun of him for it. It shows how Marvin handles himself about the different situations in his life.

All books that are sent to us have illustrations of the scenes described on the opposite page. The three books have different lessons to impart. Every book is an easy read and the illustrations are keeping it lively. My kids loved the books and we also had discussions on the things they are curious about in the story or in the characters. These books offer never-ending values that they can remember and look back to as they experience the ups and downs of life. I hope Kids BookCase keep up the good work in curation!
