Treats is a monthly snack subscription full of snacks from around the world. You can expect to receive eclectic and interesting snacks that you’ve never sampled before (unless, of course, you’ve lived in the featured country recently)! The Standard Pack offers 4-5 snacks, while the Premium box offers 8-10. It’s quick to enroll, and you’ll get your first box within a few days of when you subscribe.

The packaging is simple and elegant. Tissue paper keeps the contents a secret until you are ready to dive in.

The box always includes a beautiful postcard welcoming us to this month’s Treats destination. Usually, it is a shot of one of the most iconic landmarks of the country. This month, it’s Tori Gate, Miyajima, Japan!
The box is filled to the top with goodies! Everything comes in its original packaging, often solely in the language of the featured country – sometimes it’s just as much fun to see the unique package styling as it is to try the snacks! The box is always so full, that they don’t need to use any extra packing material.
The introduction card tells a little about the snack culture and points out some of the flavors or snack styles that are popular or unique to the destination.
Another card features facts about Japan, plus a clue for next month’s box.
This month’s featured recipe is Sushi Rolls.
There is also a handy info card that gives the name and maker of each treat, as well as a short description of each. The blurbs give you a sense of what to expect, but you’ll have to check each treat’s label (and possibly hire a translator) for more detailed info on ingredients and nutrition. Even with the card, the only way to truly appreciate everything is to taste it!
Everything in the box. The composition of each Treats collection depends on the local snacking culture, but there is usually a good mix of sweet and savory and individual and family packs.
Lotte Blueberry Gum ($2.98) It’s a pack of blueberry flavored gum! FYI – this arrived intact, but our kids got to it before we could get to photos!
There are nine sticks of gum in a single pack, which is great for sharing.
It has a burst of fruity flavor – it was a total hit!
Calbee Shrimp Baked Chips ($0.60) The moment we opened this pack, we caught a whiff of savory baked shrimp. The puffed sticks are light and they are crispy too, so you might find yourself finishing the entire pack without even realizing it.
Amanoya Himemaru Crackers ($2.11) It’s a popular rice cracker from Japan which combines sweet, salty, and spicy flavors.
These crackers are golden in color. They are thick and crunchy and they actually make noise when you bite on them!
Uegaki Kaki No Tane ($6.49) We got another pack of Japanese rice crackers! They’re spicy and they’re aptly shaped like chilies too.
They’re hot and crunchy. It goes well with a glass of cold beer too.
Bourbon Every Burger Cookies ($3.76) Burger Cookies look like small burgers, but they’re made with biscuit buns and the filling is chocolate.
The cookies are bite-sized!
They even have sesame seeds on top. The white chocolate serves as the “cheese,” while the brown chocolate serves as the “patty.” They’re yummy, definitely a hit with the kids. And us. Gone in a flash!
Bourbon Kikori no Kirikabu Cookies. From the same maker as the burger cookies, also included in the box is a pack of cookies shaped like chopped tree trunks.
When you open the box, you’ll find a game inside where you need to mark any differences that you see. It’s a fun activity!
These are bite-sized too.
The sides and the bottom of the bite-sized cookies are coated in chocolate. They do look like tree stumps!
They’re crispy, yummy, and cute, so my kids loved them as well.
Bourbon Fettucine Gummy Cola ($2.97) This gummy cola candy was shaped like fettuccine pasta!
It’s small but packed with sour cola flavor. It was generously dusted with sour sugar too.
Bourbon Lumonde Crepe Biscuits ($2.53) This Japanese snack comes with that crunchy texture associated with crepes plus a rich coating that I enjoyed a lot.
Each crepe biscuit in the pack is individually wrapped to preserve its freshness.
The crepes are coated with delicious chocolate. The crunch plus the sweetness of the coating is the perfect combination for some afternoon indulgence. It goes well with a hot beverage.
Bontan Ame Rice Candy ($0.99) This snack looks interesting. The wrapper sports a cat and a flower on it, plus a text saying that there is a sticker inside for kids too. A treat within a treat!
Inside the pack are several individually wrapped soft candies that come in citrus flavors. They are wrapped in edible rice paper so you don’t have to bother about removing any wrappers before eating the candy (except for the outer plastic one). In this box, there is a sticker of a hippo for your little one, so cute!
Glico Giant Caplico You probably thought that this snack is an ice cream, but it only looks that way. It does come in a cone shape but what’s inside is a more unique treat.
As you can see, there is a real ice cream cone but instead of ice cream, you’ll get a chocolate filling.

The texture is really unique. It’s more like Aero than a brownie – a bubbly chocolately sweet!
Japan has always been known for their unique flavors and quirky snacks, and this month’s box from Treats definitely captured that. Some of these Japanese snacks are familiar, like the rice crackers and shrimp sticks, but many of them still surprised our taste buds! My son even joined the fun, he definitely likes the chocolatey Caplico ice cream snack. Treats did a great job again this month and we’re already excited to find out where they’ll take us next!
