Sweet Reads Box is a Canadian subscription box bringing a curated selection of a bestselling book along with complimentary items to enhance the experience. The box is $54.99 CAD ($42 USD) for one month, and drops slightly when you purchase a 3 or 6 month subscription as well. Since I got my Kindle a few years ago, it’s been ages since I’ve read an actual book, and the past book selections were right up my alley so I’m really excited to open the box and see what’s inside!

On top is the information card — I can tell right away we have a sort of outdoors/camping theme this month. Perfect for summer!

DEAL: Get 10% off your first box! Use coupon code LOVEBOOKS.

The back of the card has information about the month’s book selection as well as the other items included, and how they all tie into the theme.

Bubble wrap keeps the breakable items intact.

The Lost Girls of Camp Forevermore, by Kim Fu ($14.95 USD) Kim Fu is a Canadian author who lives in the PNW, which is where I live, too! Several of the characters are from Vancouver and Vancouver Island which was really neat. I’ve read the first few chapters, and it switches between scenes in the past as well as the future. It reminds me of the old 90s movie Now and Then, where the rather dark past of the characters as teenagers shapes who they are as adults.

For the girls at Forevermore, a sleepaway camp in the Pacific Northwest, days are filled with swimming lessons, friendship bracelets, and camp songs by the fire. Bursting with excitement and nervous energy, they set off on an overnight kayaking trip to a nearby island. But before the night is over, they find themselves stranded, with no adults to help them survive or guide them home.

The Lost Girls of Camp Forevermore follows Nita, Andee, Isabel, Dina, and Siobhan through—and far beyond—this fateful trip. We see the survivors through the successes and failures, loves and heartbreaks of their teen and adult years, and we come to understand how a tragedy can alter the lives it touches in innumerable ways.

From award-winning novelist Kim Fu comes a stunning portrait of friendship and of the families we build for ourselves—and the pasts we can’t escape.

Kikkerland Tree Friendly Pencils ($6 USD) — I love Kikkerland and their quirky and practical products. This is an oversized matchbook containing 8 pencils made from recycled paper. There is a rough strip on the package so you can even sharpen them on the go.

The pencils themselves are adorable and the packaging reminds me of a birch tree with its stripey bark.

F as in Frank Notebook ($4.61 USD) — A small 30-page notebook designed right here in Vancouver, BC! I love the simple design on the cover. Along with the tree-friendly pencils, these are super small and compact to slip into a purse or pocket.

Gourmet Village Campfire Cocoa ($1.15 USD) — Gourmet Village is like a Canadian version of Epicure, it’s a line of mixes for sauces, drinks, and so on and so forth. I have a box of their different hot cocoas so I know and love this one as well which includes marshmallows right in the mix.

Naked Snacks Wholesome Yogi Mix (~$5 USD) — Naked Snacks have their own subscription box, too! I have tried their products before but this one is new to me. It has a blend of almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, yogurt chips, and dried cranberries. It’s an awesome mix with the tart berry, creamy yogurt chips, and savoury nuts. I definitely would get these again!

Adventure Awaits Mug ($8) — I absolutely love the minimalist design on this mug. It’s absolutely adorable. It reminds me like a patch or a crest someone might have on their camp bag or hat or something like that. Super cute and perfectly paired with the hot chocolate mix!

Sweet Reads put together an awesome summer-themed box for June featuring a great, page-turning book and all the snacks to go along with it. I love how the items all tied together to the theme, and I can’t wait to read more of the book as I found it hard to put down to begin this review. I love that this box is Canadian, too, including featuring a Canadian author and Canadian designers and businesses too.
