Even the padding in the box is exquisite! It has a foam insert that cradles everything inside, and it even has a velvety surface. It all has a very high-end feel to it, and unboxing everything from the custom case makes you feel a bit like a secret agent selecting your gear.

The story of the premium products is told through a giant, novella-sized booklet with multi-page featurettes on each selection. It is the most thorough exploration of products I’ve seen in a curation, as each one has the equivalent of a magazine article written about it, and there are tons of great pics, too!

There’s also a page that lists the brands who contributed items to the box. Codigo, Melissa’s, LPC, Farm Candy, Fish Fixe and Hank Sauce are the brands we have in this box.

The styling of the booklet is very sleek and elegant, with tons to read. Tons of high-quality photography, too. As always, there is a note from founder Daniel Curtis.

There is also a full-feature about this month’s theme, “The Perfect Moment.”

The article lays out the contents of the box and highlights some features in the booklet. They weave a narrative about how everything relates back to creating that perfect moment.

The back of the booklet has directory of all the products, as well as a recap of any codes or discounts — the codes appear throughout the booklet, but this is a good place to check to make sure you haven’t leafed past any.

This booklet features an interview with George Strait, legendary country musician and connoisseur of the good life. After being introduced to Código by a friend, George has supported the brand as it makes headway into the US market.

Everything in the April 2018 Robb Vices box!

I always love seeing the photography in the booklet. This edition captured several great shots of agave harvesting and roasting.

You pics are so crisp and vivid, you definitely feel like you are right there!

The first product featured is the headliner, Código 1530 Rosa Blanco tequila.

Código 1530 Rosa Tequilla ($59.99)

Codigo 1530 is private recipe tequila that has been contracted by a family in Los Cabos for almost a decade, before finally becoming a commercial product in the U.S. Made at NOM 1500 by Tequileria las Juntas, the product was nameless for many years, existing solely as the house brand for family members and friends.

The Codigo Rosa is made in Jalisco, Mexico, using mash and fermentation techniques passed down through generations. This is paired with modern distillation for a very clean and vivid tequila flavor.

This tequila is produced from 100% blue agave, as it should be. It gets its unique rose coloration from being stored in old Cabernet casks prior to bottling. The barrels aren’t charred, so you don’t get the brownish coloration you typically see in aged tequilas. Similarly, the wine-infused wood imparts a brings out the floral notes of the tequila instead of neutralizing them. The result is beautiful both visually and on the palate.

The bottle looks very high-class too, with a lovely Jerusalem cross on the shoulder.

Código 1530 Rosa is delicious served neat or over a single cube of large ice. It also plays so well with other flavors, from fresh rosemary to sugar, tart citrus to craft sodas.

Poured straight, it has a beautiful pale pink hue, similar to a light rosé.

The tequila itself is really light on the palate and has that slightly woody flavor that instantly warms you in the inside. Because it is stored in uncharred barrels, some of the heat remains, and the untamed florals give it a bit of a winey edge that beats out the tangy quality you would expect in tequila.

Just a bit of salt and a slice of lime and you’re good to go! Truly, this tequila has a very clean flavor that doesn’t need the whole salt and lime routine to put back. It is fine for sipping, and it also makes a great Margarita.

Código House Agave Nectar. Grown specifically for tequila, this agave nectar is naturally high in sugar but has a balanced flavor.

It’s made in Jalisco and since it’s a new product, Robb Vices says that their subscribers are the first ones to have it!

Agave is definitely a great alternative sweetener, healthier than white sugar, and lighter in consistency and color than honey. Aside from cocktails, you can also add this to your breakfast oatmeal and to baked goodies.

This box also reintroduces Melissa’s Produce!

Melissa’s Produce Melissa’s Dried Hibiscus Flowers ($8.50) These Dried hibiscus flowers are more than just a decoration. It’s tart and floral, giving a whole new flavor to food and drinks.

It’s a great base for cocktails, and you can even steep it with your tea. It’s just great to have this in the pantry to use anytime you fancy a luxurious drink, be it alcoholic or not.

Also called flor de Jamaica, it’s a bit sharp and herbal but not overwhelming. Robb Vices also suggests to chop it finely and mix into sugar or salt to use in cooking or to rim a beverage. It has a tangy-sweet cranberry flavor. With a huge supply like this, I could see making up a batch of hibiscus simple syrup to use with vodka drinks…

To test it out, they provided an easy to follow recipe of Hibiscus-Ginger Margarita!

Port Living Company creates architectural grade concrete items. Though they make many sculptural art pieces, they’ve created something for us that is truly useful.

We got a minimalist salt cellar!

Kulinarium Kitchenware Salt Cellar ($25) Subscribers will get it in either gray or white. We got white!

It has a lid to cover the contents and protect it from moisture. It has a clean and modern look, and the slight imperfections inherent in concrete lend character.

It has a cork bottom to protect and prevent it from scratching wood tables or flat surfaces.

The next featured company is Farm Candy, creator of artisan oils, salts, and sugar blends.

Farm Candy Artisinal Salts & Sugars ($15) Farm Candy’s Citrus Ginger Salt is a blend of assorted spices combined with salt harvested from the pacific ocean.

It contains lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, and ginger that are enhanced by the special salt base.

This blend can be used to enhance flavors of grilled fish, grilled vegetables, chicken, pork, and shrimp. It’s contained in a stainless steel tin.

We transferred the salt blend to our concrete salt cellar.

It’s looking great! The contents of the tin was just enough for the cellar. This is very coarse, so it makes a very dramatic rimming salt. I love the flavor of it, and I found that I enjoyed my Margaritas with a few grains dropped in just prior to shaking.

By popular demand, they brought back Hank Sauce!

Hank Sauce Cilanktro Hot Sauce ($14) This hot concoction contains cayenne peppers, garlic, vinegar, cilantro, butter, salt, and xanthan gum.

The smooth flavor of this hot sauce came from a hefty dose of fresh cilantro.

You can try it on almost anything and everything, from Mexican style food to grilled veggies and seafood!

It’s really a unique sauce that adds kick and savor to everyday food.

See how rich the sauce is? It adds a nice dose of heat, with lots of cilantro flavor. It is a little less intense heat-wise than Tobasco, but that is good, because you will be using a lot more of it. It is my preferred level of heat for a wing sauce — it won’t kill you if you get more of it in a bite than you anticipated, but it has intensity you can’t miss, even in small doses.

Fish Fixe is a premium seafood delivery service.

They included a $20 off coupon code you can use when you order a Fresh Sashimi-grade Ceviche Kit.

You can also get a $85 off cart total when you order the kit plus the Fish Fixe box. We’ve been traveling quite a bit so we haven’t ordered this up – I’ll be placing an order (even though it’s not close to free!) at the end of June. I can’t wait to pair fresh gulf shrimp with tequila.

This month’s Robb Vices box was a blast. Boozy indulgence is one of the things they do best. I’m definitely happy with the rose tequila! I liked the follow-through in the curation, with them bringing in some great accompaniments for the tequila. All in all, it was a cohesive curation with some great artisan flair — just what I need to create a perfect moment right in the comfort of home. This subscription is such an awesome way to indulge and it would make a perfect gift for anyone who has an opulent taste!
