Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, a beauty bonus, a fragrance bonus, playlists, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

Everything arrives packed in a bag, preventing items from rolling around in the box. Curious, what’s your spirit animal?

Don’t forget about your Play! Pass. It gets you 50 extra Beauty Insider points with a purchase from the box (in-store only). Your subscription also entitles you to Play! Date meetups, if your store participates.

This month’s theme asks, What’s Your Festival Beauty Vibe? Products are focused around getting you into the festival season spirit while helping you define your style. And, don’t forget to check out The Beauty Insider Community. Create a profile and start joining the discussion!

The fold-out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus product/brand trivia and beauty tips. You can access all of the information and also watch videos right on the Sephora site or use the app to scan the sheet for more info!

Everything in my box! My variation was box 364. Click here to see variant items in other boxes!

Bobbi Brown | Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm ($11.56): Talk about costly! The full-sized 1 oz. product is $68!!! Thankfully a little goes a long way with this moisturizer – I’ve gotten more than a week’s uses out of this little tube. The formula contains light-reflecting pearls to illuminate skin. It leaves my skin with a faint all-over highlight, and I felt moisturized all day. If the price were better, I’d totally buy this. For now, I’ll stick to adding a little bit of luminizer to my moisturizer for the same effect.

Korres | Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cleanser ($3.47): This cream-to-foam cleanser cares for skin with a base of protein-rich Greek yogurt. The formula also contains amaranth seed extract and honeysuckle to reduce redness. I felt this had a richer lather when used with my face brush or scrubbie versus just my hands. The cleanser did a good job of washing away the day’s makeup, including most of my eyeliner and mascara! The only downside for me was that I felt that my skin was a little stripped after washing and needed moisturizer immediately after drying.

Supergoop! | Defense Refresh ($4.20): Personally, I feel that you can’t have enough UV protection on your skin. (I’m that friend that carries a minimum SPF 50 but prefers SPF 80 with UVA an UVB protection.) Plus, no one wants a sunburn AND for their makeup to run while dancing the night away. This setting spray is infused with rosemary and mint to control oil while protecting. I like the cooling sensation that comes just after this is sprayed onto the skin; it helps wake me up in the morning. This helped keep my makeup intact through walking in the rain, a photo shoot, and some light cleaning.

Stila | Stay All Day Eyeliner in Black ($11.00): This deluxe sample is half the size of a regular liner. Yay! I love samples that I know will last a while. I’m a little torn on this waterproof liner. So, here are my pros – highly pigmented, dries quickly, has good staying power, and is easy to use. My cons are – tip looses its shape after a while ( I noticed a little difference in structure after a week), dragged/skipped on looser eyelid skin, and I struggled with the pen cap. I think I need to use this a little more to get a final verdict.

IGK | Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm ($2.90): Last year, Sephora sent me an IGK product that I fell in love with. It was IGK’s Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel. So, I was very happy to see this in my box this month. This hair balm also uses coconut oil to nourish hair, but then it bumps up its game by adding in shea butter and argan oil. This formula was definitely more in line with a conditioning balm – my curls weren’t as defined, but they definitely were softer.

Amika | Nourishing Mask ($2.24): There’s so much goodness in this nourishing hair mask! First there’s jojoba seed oil, Vitamin C, and panthenol… but then Amika adds in sea buckthorn berry that contains over 190 biologically active compounds, including Vitamin C (15 times more than an orange), Vitamin A (three times more than a carrot), and Vitamin E. It also has high concentrations of the rare Omega 7, making up 40% of the berry. This felt amazing in my hair and left it looking shiny and healthier. Definitely a winner.

This month’s box had a $35 value. I liked the products so much that I didn’t mind not having a fragrance sample. Although, truth be told, sometimes the fragrance doesn’t really match my profile. LOL. What I really appreciate about Play! by Sephora is that they typically have 1 or 2 samples that are worth more than the cost of the box, so you’re already getting a deal. Plus, this subscription allows me to try out some great products without having to shell out a ton of cash.

I can’t wait to see what awaits me next month. Now, to see if there’s a nearby music festival I can score tickets to…
