Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, a beauty bonus, a fragrance bonus, playlists, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

Everything arrives packed in a bag, preventing items from rolling around in the box. I enjoy seeing the fun phrases and designs that come each month. Did “Make It Snappy” give you a hint to this month’s theme???

Don’t forget about your Play! Pass. It gets you 50 extra Beauty Insider points with a purchase from the box (in-store only). Your subscription also entitles you to Play! Date meetups, if your store participates. You can also get a complimentary mini-makeover.

This month’s theme is Insta Beauty. These products deliver quick, camera-ready results. And, don’t forget to check out The Beauty Insider Community. Create a profile and start joining the discussion!

The fold-out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus product/brand trivia and beauty tips. You can access all of the information and also watch videos right on the Sephora site or use the app to scan the sheet for more info! Did you notice that this month’s poster was designed to help you get the perfect product shot for your social media post?

Everything in my box! My variation was box 443. Click here to see variant items in other boxes!

Make Up For Ever | Ultra HD Perfector – Shade #10 ($6.00):  This is a CC cream – similar to a BB cream but with color correcting benefits. It is lighter than foundation, providing sheer to medium coverage. What I like is this not only blurs imperfections, but it also moisturizes and contains SPF 25. This has a natural, demi-matte finish.

Shade #10 is a golden honey and one shade up from my color IQ match, so it will be perfect for my summer tan. Here are before and after blending swatches on my hand.

Sunday Riley | C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum ($14.45):  This has to be the priciest product in this month’s box. The full 1 oz. is a whopping $85! I’m not complaining though. This serum is infused with 15% Vitamin C, an antioxidant to protect skin from the effects of aging. The formula fights dullness, dark spots, and discoloration to give you brighter more luminous (and camera-ready) skin. It also contains Saccharide Isomerate Extract to reduce the appearance of pores.

Dr. Dennis Gross | Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Peel ($11.00 for 2 treatments):  This  facial peel is conveniently packaged as a wipe and contains a high dose of retinol to fight the signs of aging. The formula contains a blend of antioxidants, alpha hydroxy acids, and retinol to deliver brighter, firmer, and more radiant skin. Use this on clean skin before bed. And, remember to wear sunscreen during the day – the AHAs may increase your sensitivity to the sun and the possibility of sunburn. I’ve received these before (from another subscription) and really like the effect they have on my skin. I’ll use this on a week when I’m not in the mood for a mask or scrub.

Buxom | Full-On Lip Polish – Celeste ($6.67):  Celeste is described as a prismatic soft peach gloss with a shimmer finish. Warning, this does have a slight tingle that goes along with its plumping effect. However, it is not nearly as painful as the burning sensation I felt when using Lip Injection. I have naturally full lips, so the plumping effect was minimal on me. I like that the formula isn’t very tacky, and it contains Vitamins A and E to moisturize my lips. I’m not so much a shimmer girl and would have preferred Savannah, which is the same formula but a peach shade with a metallic finish.

This is definitely a high-shine formula. You can see the shimmer effect (left) and how it catches the light (right).

Peter Thomas Roth | Skin to Die For No-Filter Mattifying Primer & Complexion Perfector ($7.00):  This is a lightweight, mattifying primer. Not only does it blur imperfections, but it also fills in fine lines and reduces pores over time. This has a slight tint, but it doesn’t leave your skin with a cast or ashy tone. I loved the way this made my skin and makeup look. My foundation went on smoothly and had an almost airbrushed finish. The formula also did a good job controlling oil (I have a very active T-zone).

Living Proof | Perfect Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment ($2.37):  Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day line is designed to provide the benefits of smoothness, volume, conditioning, strength, and polish. This product provides styling and treatment benefits with each use. Apply to damp hair before blow drying, and it works as a heat protectant that smooths and softens. Unfortunately, I’m still on the hunt for a new blow dryer and will have to wait to try this out.

My April Play! by Sephora had a value just over $47. I like that the products work together to give you a natural look, so you can tag your selfies with #wokeuplikethis (even though we all know it took some work). LOL. I’m really happy with the Sunday Riley serum and am noticing an improvement in my skin tone. The Dr. Dennis Gross peel could be helping with that too. But, I think my fave find this month was the primer. It has done more for oil control than most primers I’ve tried, and the full size isn’t overpriced.

Now that I’m camera ready, I’ve got pictures to take until next month’s box arrives.
