Sarah, the blogger behind Mommy Pockets, has entered the subscription box business! The Mommy Pockets Subscription box is a monthly box that brings “mommy minutes” into your life. Gifts and themes will change every month to go along the seasons of motherhood. $3.00 from every box sold is donated to a wonderful cause. Enjoy receiving gifts for yourself, support small businesses and give back to the community.

The inside of the cover reminds moms that, “You Deserve This!”  It is easy to worry about what others need and forget to take time for oneself.

“You are an amazing mom, ” are important words especially when your children are too young to articulate it.

“You are strong.” I shed a few tears over that because I do not feel that I am strong enough to survive the “emergent adult” years with my nineteen-year-old son. I miss the days of long ago when he was a little guy. I am excited for all that is waiting for him in life.

An inspirational letter was included in the box. I agree with the advice of treating yourself to something that you enjoy over the next 30 days. Make time for yourself!

This month $3.00 of your box purchase went to support the mothers and children of Enchanted Makeovers. I can’t believe this! I love sewing and find it to be such a stress-reliever while dealing with my teenager. It got me thinking how it could enrich other people’s lives especially women in transitional situations. Enchanted Makeovers already thought of this and added the Sacred Sewing Room which provides a sanctuary to learn and create.

The information card contains the item, description, and website.

Here are the items in the May Mommy Pockets Box. The first thing I noticed was that everything could be used up within a month’s time.

Everyone received a sprig of fresh flowers which I thought was a nice touch. They dried nicely to a beautiful antique white coloring. The neutrally toned color flowers do not take much room and goes well with any decor. I believe that we do not buy flowers often enough and ought to enjoy them more often!

The Sweet Nectar Honeysuckle Candle by Carolines Candles (2 oz, appx $5.00) has a light, sweet, floral scent. I estimated the price based on other candles.

The hand poured soy candle are made in Texas. The small size makes it easier to put it out of reach of little hands. It also can be burned in thirty days if one wants to use the candle expediently.

The Made in Maine Pure Bliss Body Confections Matcha Smoothie Mask (.3 oz, 1 time use, $2.00) had an amazing green tea scent to it. The clay mask brightens and evens skin tone. It felt soothing on my skin. I found the  Pure Bliss Body Confections Hops & Marshmallow Mask (.3 oz, 1 time use, $2.00) to be a surprising combination. It never occurred to me to put Hops and Marshmallows together. The slightly sweet-scented mask gives the skin a deep cleanse. My skin is fussy and wasn’t too sure about the mask. I did notice the batch date had a different format than what was shown on Etsy. The format did match recent pictures on Facebook.

Both masks were made with simple, easily recognized ingredients. The Hops Mask, featured on the right, is made from Hops grown and dried in Maine.  Give your face a little love by adding water to the dry ingredients, apply to face, try to relax 10-15 minutes, and rinse clean. It seems that the children need something when I am doing a mask. I am sure that I am not the only mother to experience this.

What a perfect selection for the box!  The 21 Day Self-Love Challenge ($12.95. $10.57 Amazon) contains short readings that can help you love and accept yourself. Each day reading is less than two pages making it possible for busy mothers to complete the challenge. Start the challenge on May 14th and finish when the June box arrives.

My favorite day was Day 14 which is “Keep Challenging Yourself.” My youngest child is nine-years-old. I finally feel as though I have time to learn how to sew and quilt which I absolutely love. It inspired me to decide on the new skill I am going to learn as part of the Day 14 challenge. I am going to take my photography up a notch which is something I always wanted to learn how to do.

I was excited to receive what looked like a delicious Blue & Gold Cake Pop By Cinderella Cakes ($3.00). I had it out to take the next picture and had to walk away for a moment. I returned to find my teenage son eating the cake pop! This incident is why I still need “mom moments” even when he is 19. He told me that it was red velvet and tasted delicious.

Chelsea Rose Creations products are made in the United States and are wrapped in Eco-friendly packaging.

The Mamas Helper Bath Bomb (appx $5.89) appears to be made especially for Mommy Pockets. The blended scent of frankincense, tea tree, geranium, and ylang ylang made me feel relaxed.

I started to take baths because of aches!

The serene-looking Aches Bath Bag (app $4.89) is sealed in a water dissoluble bag. It’s the bath bomb without the UTI for those that have sensitives. I could smell eucalyptus and mint as I relaxed in my bubbles.

The Mommy Pockets Box lived up to its intentions. Most of the items were consumable and did not require a lot of space which I found to be appealing. The products were of excellent quality and provided a bit of me time. My children are older which allows me the luxury of spacing out my me time. The items selected for April can also be combined to provide a couple of me moments which may be all that is available to mothers with younger children. The value of the box does come around to the same prices as the box. However, it is a small box that is supporting small businesses while creating unique moments for mothers and a donation of $3.00 to a worthy cause. The Mommy Pockets Box makes a great gift for a busy mother or for yourself.
