This box is really well decorated inside and out. While the outside has little food items on it, the inside is full of bright green words. Plastic wrap and brown butcher paper keep all the contents safe.
The May Box is themed for the upcoming World Cup in Moscow. Unfortunately, my box was missing both the Cirio Pasta Sauce and the Joe and Seph’s Gourmet Popcorn. Last month my box was also missing two items, but they were sent to me a couple of weeks later. I wonder if that will happen this month?
Say Aloe Reduced Sugar (£1.49) is a unique drink made with real pieces of aloe vera. I received the Strawberry flavoured drink. At first sip, I really liked this, particularly the slightly chewy little pieces of aloe vera. After a few sips, the drink becomes a bit too sweet for my taste and I detected an aftertaste from the sweetener. My husband agreed about the sweetness and the aftertaste, so this wasn’t a hit with us.
The products of the month are from Santa Maria Latin American Kitchen. Caribbean Creamy Chicken Curry Seasoning Mix (£1.00) creates a mildly spiced curry with the addition of chicken and cream. I prepared this with chicken breast, lots of onions and peppers, and coconut milk rather than regular cream. I also added some red chillies and black pepper to give a bit more heat. I really enjoyed this! It had a lovely creamy, coconut flavour and well-balanced spice level.
Mini Coconut & Black Pepper Soft Tortillas (£1.50) pair well with any of the Latin American Kitchen mains. These 6” wheat tortillas are flavoured with coconut, lime and black pepper for a nice hint of sweetness. I loved the fresh, stretchy and slightly chewy texture of these tortillas.
KITKAT Senses Mix (£3.99) is a mixed pop-open box of three classy KITKAT flavours: Salted Caramel, Double Chocolate, and Hazelnut.
All three flavours are great, and the Hazelnut flavour tastes just like a Ferrero Rocher, but the Salted Caramel is my favourite.
KITKAT Bites White (£1.59) are mini KITKATS coated in white chocolate.
The re-sealable bag is ideal for sharing.
Degustabox often features Lucozade, and this month the box includes a classic flavour, Lucozade Energy Original (£1.10).
Brioche Pasquier PITCH (2 x £1.39) are soft brioche rolls with chocolate. The box includes one pack of Chocolate Flavour Filled Brioche and one pack of Choc Chip Brioche. Each pack contains four brioches, individually wrapped for freshness.
These are light, fluffy and sweet little brioche with just enough chocolate. They’re great for a quick on-the-go snack or breakfast.
We Made Lemonade (£1.50) is a non-carbonated beverage with no artificial flavours, additives, preservatives and refined sugar. I received the Raspberry & Lemon flavour, which I really enjoyed. This has a great balance of tartness and sweetness, with no weird aftertaste from the steviol sweetener.
Finally, my box included two bottles of The Good Cider of San Sebastian. These were delicious! The Strawberry cider was bursting with fresh fruit flavour, balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. The Dry Apple cider was also delicious, but the Strawberry is probably the tastiest fruit cider I’ve ever tried.
Whilst I was disappointed that my box was missing some products, I liked most of the items I did receive. My favourites were the Santa Maria Latin American Kitchen products and The Good Cider Strawberry.
