Boss+Bae is a monthly beauty and lifestyle box that aims to empower women and promote self-care. Each box contains 4-6 deluxe and full-size beauty and lifestyle products, including makeup, hair care, books, stationery, bath & body items, and other items relating to self-care. They also support black-owned businesses and founders of color.

Inside the pretty, flower covered outer envelope, there’s a white box tied with an elegant black ribbon around it.

The contents were also wrapped in black paper with a cute pink heart sticker.

There are fillers to keep the items in place and undamaged during shipping.

There’s an information card from Boss+Bae. They encourage you to share your unboxing pictures on social media using #bossandbaebox.

It also lists all the contents of this box and what they are about.

Everything in my box!

The first item is individually wrapped.

Shop Simone Cheri | Blk Grl Mgc Flask ($25.00):  … because a libation indulgence may be necessary at any given moment. Ain’t that the truth! LOL!!! It’s a flask made of premium stainless steel to prevent deterioration. I like the classy vibe, and the fact that you can easily slip it in your bag or pouch. This flask holds 6 oz. and is perfect for bringing to parties or wherever you go so you can indulge.

DorcasCreates | I Am The Future Notebook ($6.05) The notebook features a hand-drawn design that embodies confidence and empowerment. The words “I am the future” is printed throughout the suit and if her stance is anything to go by, I think she is ready to pave the way for a future that she wants. You go, girl!

It features a quote from Michelle Obama,

One of the lessons I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals. And so when I hear about negative and false attacks, I really don’t invest energy in them. I know who I am.

The notebook has lined pages. Here, you can write down all your goals, desires, or just your everyday thoughts. Writing is a great and empowering medium!  Or if you’re more like me, it’s a great way to remember the 101 things that you have to do everyday.

Next Of Kim | Salt And Earth Bath Detox – Bergamot Rose ($12.00) I think that a woman’s confidence gets a boost when she spends some time pampering herself. Or maybe we feel better just because we’ve had a few solitary moments to decompress and destress??? This bath detox is perfect for that well deserved me time. It’s made from 100% organic pink himalayan salt, known to contain high amounts of minerals that can purify and heal the body from the inside out.

There’s also bentonite clay, rose essential oil, and bergamot essential oil in the mix. It’s vegan and cruelty-free. The smell is nice too (which is saying a lot – if you’ve read my other reviews, you’ll know how much I am NOT a fan of rose scented items)!

Bernadette Thompson Nail Care Collection – Mardi Gras ($7.50):  Sorry, folks, but it seems as if the actual site is under construction, so I linked to the FB page. If you’re not in the know, Miss Bernadette is a manicurist to some of your favorite stars (Lil’ Kim, Mary J, and Madonna to name a few). Her infamous “money nails” were even part of a recent display at the Museum of Modern Art.

The polish is a dark purple with a nice glittery effect. What a way to make a statement with your nails!

It applies smoothly and is quick drying too, so there’s less mess.

Pretty Zombie Cosmetics | Liquid Lipstick – Dahlia ($13.00):  I got the liquid lipstick in Dahlia, a deep burgundy shade. It’s packaged like it’s a tube of blood, in line with the zombie theme of the brand.

This dries into a soft matte finish. The formula is long lasting and not drying. I also appreciate that the formula is vegan and cruelty-free.

Boss+Bae is a new subscription box, and I love their philosophy of celebrating, not only women of color but, overall female empowerment!!! They cover all aspects from the importance of self-care to confidence and belief in yourself. The flask is a stylish and fun surprise, and the rest will help me clear my head and get that fierce, snatched look. What, what?!?

The product value in the box was around $64, which isn’t bad compared to the cost of the subscription. This is still a fairly new service, so I expect to see some adjustments as they grow. The subscription is promising, and I’m looking forward to more!
