Birchbox Man is a monthly grooming and lifestyle subscription for men. Through it, you’ll receive 3-4 sample items that are smaller versions of what you can order from the Birchbox site. There are two versions – Birchbox Man Plus for $20 per month that includes a full-size lifestyle item, or regular Birchbox Man for $10 per month with no lifestyle item.
This is a review of the Birchbox Man Plus $20 per month box.
The lifestyle item often doesn’t fit in the sample box.
Birchbox has always been about the samples, so if you are a stickler for calculating in-box value, you’ll have to do some math to figure the per ounce value. The cards show the price for the full-size version of the included items — they are available on the Birchbox site. See your box at birchbox.com/mybox.
There’s a special card for BirchMan tips and life hacks.
This card shows the 5 samples from this box and their brief description.
Here are the items in my June 2018 box.
Standard Issue Athletic Running Hat in Black ($28) This month’s lifestyle item is a black versatile hat.
It’s a one-size-fits-all cap with an adjustable strap at the back for easy fitting.
I like that it’s lightweight and it’s easy to pair with various outfits.
This hat also features an interior sweatband and air-vented panels for us to be sweat-free this summer.
Original Penguin Signature Blend Eau De Toilette ($0.98) This eau de toilette boasts of an aquatic scent and a unique packaging fitting for the brand.
Its base notes are driftwood and musk, while its middle notes are rosemary and violet leaves. These are topped by spearmint, lime, and bergamot to keep the cool and crisp fragrance like that of surging waves.
This fragrance is fresh and masculine that is inspired by the scents of a coastal drive. It is perfect for summer and steers us away from the usual musky, woody scents for men. This sample fits anywhere!
Billy Jealousy Salad Days Body Scrub ($0.56) Formulated with vitamin E, peppermint extract, and jojoba esters, this foaming scrub deeply cleanses your pores and gets rid of dead skin. It also leaves the skin smooth and hydrated.
This sample is good for one use only. It’s a refreshing minty scrub that is not abrasive and has a good lather.
Brickell Men’s Products Invigorating Mint Body Wash ($0.95) It’s a body wash that works for body and hair. It has vitamins and tea tree oil that strips away dirt and sweat without drying. The jojoba oil, aloe vera, and glycerin ingredients keep the skin hydrated and nourished with a light cooling scent.
Air Repair Complexion-Boosting Moisturizer ($2.76) To keep your skin nourished during summer and from all that traveling, we need our go-to moisturizer. This is packed with antioxidants and humectant formula that hydrates and revitalizes skin. It does intense rejuvenation with a mattifying finish, so no sticky feeling.
Pilot Men’s Grooming The Finest Face Cleanser ($4.21) This is an all-natural cleanser that has a combination of purifying clay and detoxifying charcoal to remove dirt and oil. It has aloe vera and chamomile extract to help soften and relax the skin, as well as small particles that gently exfoliate. It just leaves the skin fresh and clean. The formula is paraben-free and sulfate-free.
They did a good job in this month’s curation because they introduced a variety of grooming items for men — there’s a moisturizer, a facial cleanser, a body wash (that works as a shampoo too), a body scrub and a sample perfume. I just think there’s a small hiccup with the sizes, particularly for the body products – the samples are getting smaller and smaller. Anyway, I loved the black cap and it’s really useful now that summer is nearing! I still love this box because the quality of curation and the variety was there. The box makes sure our skin is smooth and cool for summer!
