Everything in my May 2018 Betty Boomerang box!
There are three prints made by Stefanie Poteet.
Route 66 Prints By Stefanie Poteet ($18) Seeing roadside attractions are fun but Stefanie Poteet focused her lens on retro signs that are as much part of the scenery as the ever-changing landscape. These prints show Route 66, a Teepee and a Chevy, plus a neon sign for Roy’s Vacancy Motel Cafe, all of which are typical signs and sights that you’ll see around the United States.
Route 66 is considered to be the Mother Road in the United States and is one of the oldest highways at that. Stefanie Poteet captured an interesting piece of history along with its landscape in this print.
Stefanie Poteet’s Route 66 Wigwam Motel is reminiscent of the heyday of this area. There’s an antique car parked alongside the wigwam for a more authentic look.
Another distinct landmark along route 66 is Roy’s Vacancy Motel Cafe, which breaks the monotony of the landscape. This shot shows the beauty of neon road signs very well!
Ketchup & Mustard Squeeze Bottles ($6.99/set) Ketchup and mustard should be a staple in any kitchen because you can’t enjoy your hotdogs or burgers without them. These squeeze bottles are helpful in storing such condiments, so you can always stock up and have them on hand!
The caps are easy to remove. The bottles have a big mouth, so you can easily transfer mustard and ketchup in it. Too cute – these are definitely gracing our cookouts this summer!
Outdoor Cooking With Betty By Betty Crocker ($11.12) The outdoors is meant to be enjoyed especially during summer and this cookbook featuring classic camping recipes will be a great help!
At the back of the cover is a little bit of information on what makes this classic cooking guide a hit since 1961. The retro illustrations are cute!
Inside the cookbook are drawings of all cooking utensils and ingredients appropriate for some outdoor cooking. It is catchy and typical of the 1960s.
The Table of Contents really is a blast from the past with the font and the illustration. Of course, the first thing that you will find on the list is how to barbecue properly. I am loving it already!
Betty Crocker put a lot of details on this book with rules, tips, and whatnots.
There are also colored photos of sumptuous dishes and other outdoor food setup ideas!
Enjoying outdoor barbecue is indeed a timeless activity for summer weekends with family and friends!
Betty Crocker even shared some of her greatest barbecue recipes including steak barbecue, burger n’ bean barbecue, and beef kabob barbecue. They sure sound tasty and totally 60s. I love this reproduction cookbook – it’s like hanging out with my grandma!
Aside from beef and pork, there are barbecue recipes using fish and shellfish.
I love how Betty Crocker wrote about menus when going on a boat or pontoon ride. The menu looks sumptuous – way more effort than I could possibly muster!
State Map Tablecloth By Red & White Kitchen ($30) Another interesting piece in this month’s box is a tablecloth featuring a state map. It’s a 50s style artwork made from 100% cotton.
It measures at 58” x 72”!
This is a unique piece that I think will have a place in the outdoors.
Seeing the whole spread, I can’t help but love this piece even more. The colors are vibrant and the artwork is spot on.
The state map also features landmarks, which I think adds more to the charm of this tablecloth.
I like the icons drawn on each state such as an apple for Washington, trees for Oregon, the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco, and so on. This map perfectly sums up what these states were and are known for.
Even our pup loved it (we let him sit on it so you can get a sense of the size)! This retro tablecloth is surely going to be an excellent conversation starter during gatherings!
More illustrations surround the state map, and they’re still a nod to the 1950s like this girl in a stylish two-piece.
Greyhound buses to boys on bikes, these drawings showed how people traveled before especially on the outskirts.
Betty Boomerang’s The Great Outdoors box has perfectly captured the joy of spending time outdoors and enjoying a bit of nature. I found it fascinating, as it speaks of the best things of going on road trips or even out of your house for some sunshine and fun. I love everything in this box, but my favorite is definitely the state map tablecloth! This subscription is always retro and always fun!
