Everything in my May SinglesSwag box! I’m so excited about these socks.

The information card contains a brief description of each item and its value. This month’s quote is, “focusing on yourself isn’t selfish, it’s necessary.” So many times people feel guilty about thinking about their needs first. This is a reminder that it’s OK and sometimes you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of someone else.

Dr. Botanicals | Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil ($45):  This facial oil is rich in minerals and antioxidants such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and almond oil. I was pleasantly surprised by this product. I have oilier skin and am not a fan of most things rose-scented, so I expected this to feel heavy on my skin and have a cloying fragrance. The oil was light and absorbed very quickly. Initially, the scent was a little strong, but it dissipated within a few minutes. AND, it wasn’t overly floral; there were some citrus and sweet notes that made it more palatable for me. Another win for this – All Dr. Botanicals products are vegan certified, all natural, and cruelty free.

Makeup Drop | Original Silicone Beauty Applicator ($20):  I’ve seen the silicone applicators all over the place lately but was hesitant to try them after my massive fail with silicone brushes. Every makeup video tutorial and blogger that I watch has given these applicators super positive reviews. The biggest praise comes from the fact that these are more hygienic than brushes or sponges and they don’t absorb product (so you use less = $$ savings). I gave this a go and have to agree that I used a lot less foundation. At $35 a bottle, the more I can stretch my foundation out, the better. The applicator is also much easier to clean – just wipe it with a cleansing cloth or use soap and water. However, I felt that this pulled a bit on my skin and, since it is harder than my normal sponge, it felt like I was smacking myself as a patted/dabbed product to blend it out. I’ll have it give it a few more tries before I can make a final decision.

K. Bell | Flock Crew Socks ($12):  As a Florida girl, I can appreciate the flamingos on these socks. What really made me love them was the fun play on words. We all have days when we feel like this, but with some definite R-rated words. LOL! These crew length socks are very soft. They have the weight/thickness of a heavier trouser sock, and I can’t wait to pair them with some ankle pants and my oxfords on a day when I’m feeling hipster vibes. Byrd’s Famous Cookies | Postcard Pack ($4):  SinglesSwag has sent me Byrd’s cookies before, and I’m always happy to receive them. This cute, postcard designed box featured a snack pack of their buttery, crispy, bite-sized chocolate chip cookies. I ate the whole pack in one sitting… It was only 1.5 oz., so there was no guilt in not sharing. By the way, how adorable is the art deco design on the box!?!

Samantha Faye | Arrowhead Necklace ($68):  The arrowhead is a symbol of courage, strength, and protection. This necklace features a small arrowhead on a delicate 16″ chain (with 2″ extender). The information card says that the piece is sterling silver, and Samantha Faye produces pieces that are gold plated, rose gold plated, and .925 sterling. However, I wasn’t able to find a .925 stamp anywhere on the necklace (this is not a legal requirement, but most jewelers do stamp the pieces). Also, I wasn’t able to find the exact necklace design on the Samantha Faye website. Honestly, I could only find it available on re-sale sites for about half the listed price.

Keracolor | Purify Plus ($20):  This leave-in conditioning spray, infused with Keracolor’s Krystal Water Complex, is formulated to neutralize tap water and minimize the damaging effects of chlorine and other hard water minerals on hair. This can be used after shampooing and conditioning to hydrate and soften hair. It can also be used to refresh yesterday’s hairstyle. I used it as a refresher and was happy with the results. My curls got their shape back and were soft and bouncy. This didn’t weigh my hair down and had a light, clean scent. Use code SINGLES20 for a 20% discount on your online order.

Jelly Pong Pong | Stardrops ($35):  This product description confused me. Jelly Pong Pong describes this as light-activated glow drops. Call me silly, but I almost thought that this would react with lights and I’d have a weird glow to my skin. After I got over how dumb that sounded, I realized that these were highlighter drops. ??‍♀️ This can be worn alone for serious highlights or mixed in with your favorite moisturizers and foundations for a golden glow. I was expecting this to be a thinner formula, but it has an almost gel-like consistency. I mixed it into a foundation that gives me an ashy finish, and it brightened it up to a more flattering shade on me. The Stardrops actually saved my foundation from going into the trash.

My May SinglesSwag box has a listed value of $204! Not too shabby for a $40 subscription. I was very happy with this month’s box (despite the impression I might have given about the silicone blender). The cookies were gone immediately after the picture was taken, and they were a contender for my favorite box item. Although, I do like the socks and conditioner a lot. I can’t decide. Whether you’re single or attached, I think you can enjoy this box. Plus, what a great monthly box if you’re searching for something to replace your monthly POPSUGAR Must Have Box!
