Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, playlists, a fragrance bonus item, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

Your subscription also entitles you to PLAY! Date meetups if your store participates. I don’t even have a Sephora (not even a JCP one) but this box totally excites me even without those experiences. I love the high-end brands every month for just $10.

When you remove all the paper, you are left with this playful pouch from Sephora.

That little card is a PLAY! Pass that will get you 50 extra Beauty Insider points with a purchase from the box, in-store only. You can also get a complimentary mini makeover!

For this month only you can also redeem your Play! points online!

This month’s theme is #BeautyGoals Then Vs. Now! This is a funny comic strip that shows the difference in how we treat beauty care then and now.

This fold-out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus beauty trivia and tips. You can access all of the information and also watch the videos right on the Sephora site or use the app to scan the sheet for more info!

The pouch is really cute!

Everything in my box! See the spoilers for all the variations here.

Sephora Purifying & Mattifying Mask ($3.33) Formulated with zinc and copper, this mud mask treatment has a very thick consistency which helps cleanse and purify skin. . It can be used over your entire face or as a spot treatment.

The scent is refreshing, but what I really like is that it absorbs excess oil without overdrying. My skin felt super clean after using the mask!

Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo ($3.25) Dry shampoo is great for quick retouches. This one eliminates oils, dirt, and impurities, which leaves hair fresh and clean with a light floral scent. The ingredients are free from parabens, phthalates, and sulfates. The formula also contains micro-fine rice powders that naturally blend with hair colors and expand to provide lift in the roots. Another key ingredient is golden root extract with moisturizing properties. The real downside is that it’s tiny – best to save to pack for a special event that you’re traveling to – my daughter & I used the entire can in one day!

YSL Black Opium Eau De Parfum ($2.18) This perfume has notes of coffee accord, cedarwood essence, patchouli essence, and orange blossom.

It comes in an ampoule packaging. Not my favorite – I don’t like the scent of coffee!

Benefit The Porefessional Pore Primer ($4.80) I’ve used this multiple times and it is a good primer. It has a very matte finish, so less is more. Apply too much and it will be harder to blend. It is very easy to apply and glides smoothly on the face. By applying only this, you will achieve a natural look because it is also translucent.

It minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines and helps makeupstays all day long. It has an oil-free formula that contains vitamin E which is known to protect skin from free radicals.

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($13.81) This mascara is inspired by Marc Jacobs’ mom when she used to shave velvet ribbons just to make her lashes thick. So just by the inspiration, I know this mascara is special.

Its black pigment delivers pop into your lashes with just a swipe. The formula is free of parabens, phthalates, and sulfates. Also, it doesn’t get clumpy! The mascara doesn’t extend your lashes much but it is really effective on the volumizing part.

The curvy brush places the most volume even on the hard to reach areas like the lower lash or center lash line. Marc Jacobs mascara is always a win for me, especially as the full-size is so pricey!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner In Trooper Black ($7.27) Well, if the eyeliner’s brush is not working, it ruins everything no matter how good the product is. I’m happy to say that this product is not one of them! It has a superfine and flexible brush tip that glides easily across the lashline. It will allow you to create a variety of looks.  It is highly pigmented and waterproof but it does smudge a little and fades over time, but only if you wear it for over a day. Practice practice practice first before using this, because you’re stuck with it!

These are the Kat Von D eyeliner and Sephora mask swatches. Look at how black the eyeliner is in one sweep! The Sephora mask, on the other hand, is changing colors from dark gray to ash when the mask is drying. If it’s all turned into ash color, it is a sign that you have to wash your face.

I really like this box because I get to try out expensive stuff for a low cost.  I love how thick the mask is, it did make me feel refreshed after using it. I’m not too fond of coffee but Opium perfume is still a good addition to the curation. My fave out of the bunch is the Marc Jacobs Mascara. I love that it is inspired by his mom and it worked 100 percent! The total value this month is about $35!
