This is Birchbox’s second installment with Vogue and so far so good. Here is a note from Celia Ellenberg, Vogue’s Beauty Director, stating the ultimate goal of this box.

I’m so excited about the 7 products that Birchbox has in store for us (and mainly because they collaborated with Vogue!) All the tips and the brief description of the products are in this card.

The theme of their collaboration is Transformation. I think the endgame of using these products is to boost our confidence and inspire us to start the version 2.0 of ourselves.

This is good news indeed: Birchbox subscribers can get a one-year subscription to Vogue Magazine for $15 and save 79% off the cover price! All in the name of celebrating fashion and culture!

Here’s everything in the box!

The Birchbox x Vogue box includes:

Saturday Skin Spotlight Brightening Mask ($5.96) I put it in the fridge first for a couple of minutes before opening for added cooling effect. It is a very thin mask that is made of soothing biocellulose material and 2 netted backings. I think it is smaller than other masks I encountered. It easily brightened up my skin and the redness was gone. I think I have to use it a couple of times to know if it does diminish dark spots.

It is free of parabens, sulfates, artificial color and fragrance. Key ingredients include saccharomyces ferment, bilberry extract, and aloe leaf extract.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair!  Deep Conditioning Hair Cap System ($9) This hair treatment is pretty easy to use. You just have to put the product in your hair after shampooing and secure it with the cap included in the kit, then wash after letting it set for 10 minutes. It contains argan oil vegabead essence, which helps repair and restore damaged hair.

The cap itself contains an inner fabric lined with natural reparative properties that mend and strengthen hair. It’s also good to know that it is formulated without parabens, phthalates, and sulfates. I’s cruelty-free and vegan too!

Babor Perfect Glow Ampoule Concentrates ($39.95) The image in the packaging is strangely giving me liquor bottle vibes. It provides visual references to hydration but the ampoule on the box is not what it looks like in real life.

I got 7 ampoules – one for every day of the week. They included an ampoule opener in the kit as well.

I think in terms of brightening and hydrating, it does a wonderful job. The rich serum feels good when slathered on to the skin. But I need more than 7 days to really see if it does anything to balance unevenness in skintone, fully restore radiance, and give a dewy effect to my face. This is a good start!

Milk Makeup Blur Stick ($36) This makeup stick was made to create a perfect canvas for makeup by minimizing the appearance of pores and fine lines. All you have to do is swipe it all over your face and blend. It can be used whether as an “invisible foundation” or as a primer.

Its design is so easy to use and hygienic as well because you don’t need to dip your fingers in it – you can just apply it straight to your face.

If you can see by the swatch (left side), it’s clear and does not put any coverage at all (very very subtle) but it does minimize the appearance of pores. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and it is also mattifying, just don’t put on too much as it could get cakey. If you naturally have a smooth skin, I think it can brighten up the face quickly.

YSL Beauty Mascara Vinyl Couture in I’m The Storm ($29) The sleek and classy design made me think I’m looking at a lip gloss, I’m surprised it’s mascara. It has a strong scent but it does not linger.

I appreciate the smaller diameter of the tube connected to the mascara container because it kind of cleans the brush and there’s no clumping of product at all! It also doesn’t clump the eyelashes together when applied. It has subtle glitter in it that can be emphasized more if you put 1 coat of mascara and use this as a top coat. It does not smudge and it is easy to remove too. I just think this product is SO fun!

Huxley Secret of Sahara Grab Water Essence  ($58) I’m always in for lightweight products for the face and this is definitely one of them. It has a watery gel consistency that nourishes and hydrates your skin while protecting it from aging and stress. It also contains Sahara cactus extract, peppermint extract, and grapefruit extract which work together to brighten up your skin.

M·A·C Cosmetics Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo ($18.50) I got the MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo, a vivid red shade. It’s actually perfect for this month’s transformation theme, because just a few swipes of this classic color on my lips metamorphoses my overall look. It makes me look put together and empowered too.

It’s very long lasting and does not transfer much because it is very matte.

I like how it’s very pigmented but kind of disappointed about the iffy formula. You can see on the swatch that it’s streaky, chalky even. It is a little bit drying. I still like the color though, and I’m going to use a very subtle, light makeup along with this and apply it with a lip brush.

Before I forget, let me say that I like the ombre pastel colors on the box! It’s really pretty!

I’m happy with the products included in this limited edition Birchbox. I think Vogue put together some of the most hyped products and I’m glad I was able to experience them. It’s also nice out to try products for half their normal price. This is a well-rounded box, as it includes skin care, hair care, and makeup and will definitely help me in transforming my everyday look! I’m definitely looking forward to more Birchbox collaborations and hoping the Vogue box is a yearly thing!
