Foodstirs is a monthly baking subscription box. Every month you’ll receive family-oriented baking kits made with premium and real ingredients, free of preservatives, and artificial dyes and flavors. The mixes use organic and non-GMO ingredients when available.

Your subscription will start with the kit indicated on the subscription information page!

The theme for April was Earth Day Celebration Kit.

It comes with all the dry ingredients and decorations needed for a fun baking project. Everything is neatly packed inside the box.

DEAL: Save 20% at Foodstirs with coupon code BAKINGFUN!

The box includes a card letting you know the ingredients needed, tools, baking time, quantity, etc.

I like that it breaks down the ingredients you need twice (the second time being what you need at home). The kit includes all dry ingredients and decorative items — you supply eggs, butter, and other dairies when needed. Most projects call for a stick of butter or so, and icings usually require some yogurt.

The information card also has useful tips written on it — usually, there is a factoid and a couple of options for adding some extra flair or flavor to your creation.

This month, they even included a little activity for my kids to work on — an Earth Day word find and fact sheet!

The box includes complete nutritional and ingredients information. You will like the ingredients – never anything artificial, and the ingredients are primarily organic with only natural food dye. The information covers every component of the kit, from mixes to decorations, but it doesn’t contemplate anything you are instructed to add, such as butter or yogurt.

Here’s everything inside our box!

1 Foodstirs® Organic Snickerdoodle Mix. This snickerdoodle mix is all organic. It’s a ready made batter containing brown sugar, wheat flour, sunflower oil, natural sea salt, baking powder, vanilla flavor, molasses powder, and organic cinnamon. Each bag makes about 16 snickerdoodles, but we are going to use it to make 6 potted blondies.

6 Silicone Pots & 6 Tiny Shovels. These silicone pots will function as a container while the tiny shovels will be used as a spoon for mixing and for eating the snickerdoodles! The pots are oven-safe (not the shovels), and we are totally keeping the pots to use again for soufflé!

1 ColorKitchen™ Green Dye Packet. We used this green dye for the frosting! It’s a natural food dye made with maltodextrin, turmeric, spirulina extract. It’s gluten free and non-GMO.

1 Foodstirs® Organic Vanilla Frosting Mix. This vanilla flavored frosting is the key to make the snickerdoodles so yummy. It’s made from cane sugar, tapioca starch, and organic vanilla flavor.

Organic Graham Cracker Piece. These delicious all-organic graham crackers will be crushed into smaller pieces to serve as a rich soil for our Earth Day treats.

Surf Sweets Gummy Worms. The kit also included a bunch of sweet and colorful gummy worms!

My boys helped beat the egg yolk in a bowl and whisk in melted butter until the mixture thickened.

The next step is to put the organic snickerdoodle mix and stir carefully. That’s when my daughter stepped in to help! When everything was already well blended, we filled the silicone pot 3/4 full, then placed it onto the baking sheet and let it bake for about 30 minutes.

We mixed up our frosting while the blondies cooled. It consists of Foodstirs vanilla frosting mix, softened butter, and yogurt. The next step was flinging in a tablespoon of undyed frosting to use as glue for our dirt.

Then we sprinkled on our crushed bunnies to make convincing soil.

The kids couldn’t resist inserting the little shovels at this point! They are a little fragile — they held up for decorating purposes, but we (of course) tried to eat our dessert using them as spoons. Only Dad made it through without breaking his.

Now, onto the finishing touches. The kids definitely had fun putting the worms on top of the pot! The bag had enough worms to double up in some of the pots.

We added the green dye to the remaining frosting and applied it using the piping bag to make tiny grass and leaves!

Here’s the final product! The smile on my daughter’s face just confirmed how she enjoyed making her own delicious dessert.

Since we still have a lot of green frosting left, she decided to add more color to her dessert! We had LOTS of green frosting leftover, and we had to rescue it from our youngest son, who wanted to use it like a camel-pak.

We made a total of 6 pots, each with a giant snickerdoodle blondie inside!

They look pretty realistic, don’t they?

It was so fun to use the shovel as a spoon!

Like all Foodstirs projects, It’s not just fun to look at, it’s delicious! The snickerdoodles and toppings were all tasty! We always say that it doesn’t matter if we make a mess of the decorations when making our Foodstirs, because we know they will be yummy. We really like the taste of their mixes, and they are worth a try even if you aren’t into doing the whole project.

My family loved the Earth Day themed Foodstirs! My kids had fun working together and following all the steps indicated on the recipe card. There’s no denying that their favorite step is the part where they add the soil, worms, and green frosting. Getting a taste of our snickerdoodles was rewarding too. Biases aside, it was really yummy! This baking subscription box surely made a great bonding experience for the whole family. Most of the ingredients are provided and the instructions are easy to follow. As a matter of fact, the kids only needed minimal help when we made these. All in all, we’re giving this month’s baking kit a two thumbs up!
