Mine Chest is the one and only official subscription box for Minecraft fans! It is licensed by Mojang. This box is now a $39.99 bimonthly box, US shipping included.

This month is the last month this box is operated by Loot Crate. The owners are taking back operation of the box.

You’ll get a box full of Minecraft inspired goodies and official merchandise. Boxes come with a t-shirt (with a full range of youth and adult sizes available) and are packed in a collectible and reusable box. The exterior of the box usually looks like a Minecraft chest, while the inside looks like a block relating to the current month’s theme.

My 3 year old got really excited about the “treasure chest” and ripped the sticker off. Woops!

When inverted, the box transforms into a bedrock cube! Every month has a different block pattern that fits the theme of the box. We like the look of the boxes so much that we can’t stand to part with them, so we have a two block wide tower of them up to the ceiling in the kids’ room!

Everything in the January box!

The theme of the January box was Journey To Bedrock! Each month, the theme is presented via a lenticular postcard.

The message on the back serves as the info card, which is light on item details, but it’s just like getting a card from someone living in the mysterious world of Minecraft!

Mine Chest Sticker. When a sign says “never dig straight down,” never dig straight down, as it might kill you in the game.

Minecraft Exclusive Cube Pin. This month’s exclusive pin features Magma Cube!

Magma Cubes, also known as Fire Slimes, are hostile Mobs found in the Nether that were added in 1.9 Beta. They are more commonly found near Nether Fortresses in the Nether. When they move, they jump and momentarily unravel into eight layers, giving them the appearance of a spring while revealing a molten core inside.

Stuffed Bedrock. Bedrock is a block, indestructible by survival means. However, this one we received is soft and fluffy. It would have been perfect… if only it wasn’t ripped! They have responded to my replacement request and are shipping it out, but we haven’t had much luck recently with actually getting our replacements (and one we were only offered $8 off a subscription renewal – no refunds).

Bedrock cannot be broken using any tools. It also cannot be moved by pistons or destroyed by explosions that are present in survival gameplay. Bedrock can only be obtained by the creative inventory and commands. Even if theoretically broken, bedrock would not drop as an item.

You can use the stuffed cubes from Minechest as room decor. My kids sometimes play with them too.

Silverfish T-Shirt. This month’s shirt design is the Silverfish, which is a small, bug-like hostile mob.

Silverfish are the second smallest mobs in Minecraft, after the endermite; their height is less than that of a slab. Because of this, they take suffocation damage from standing on soul sand.

The shirt is a Minecraft exclusive merch! We got the small size of the shirt (I know it will never be mine) and will belong to one of my kids. The shirt is comfy as it is made of 50% cotton and 50% polyester.

Minecraft Hangers Series 3 Figure Blind Packs. We always get excited with blind bags!

We got the villager!

A villager is an intelligent passive NPC that the player can trade with. A villager wears clothing according to one of six professions, and many of these professions are subdivided into various careers.

More bag charms for my son’s backpack!

It’s Jack o’Lantern!

Even the back of the figures are accurately detailed!

It’s like they’re taken straight out of the game!

My favorite item from this month’s box is the shirt! If only I got it in my size, I’ll definitely wear it. We also love getting those stuffed blocks, but we were disappointed that this month’s block was damaged. The blind bags, as always, are a hit with the kids! Every box celebrates a different aspect of the game – either a biome, beast, or survival activity, so the gear is always fresh and different. There is so much to do and explore in Minecraft (and it is constantly expanding), so I’m sure there is always something new to see in each box. It’s a great fan subscription box and my kids are really excited when it shows up.

Speaking of, this month’s box was really late (again!) and it’s not a surprise that the owner yanked back control of the box. That being said, I thought the quality and variety of the merchandise were much improved with Loot Crate’s operation of the box, and I will be disappointed if we get another stamp and ink pad in the next box. It was a relief to stop getting them!
