The Centennial Edition Of Mice And Men By John Steinbeck ($9.84)

They are an unlikely pair: George is “small and quick and dark of face”; Lennie, a man of tremendous size, has the mind of a young child. Yet they have formed a “family,” clinging together in the face of loneliness and alienation. Laborers in California’s dusty vegetable fields, they hustle work when they can, living a hand-to-mouth existence. For George and Lennie have a plan: to own an acre of land and a shack they can call their own.

When they land jobs on a ranch in the Salinas Valley, the fulfillment of their dream seems to be within their grasp. But even George cannot guard Lennie from the provocations of a flirtatious woman, nor predict the consequences of Lennie’s unswerving obedience to the things George taught him. “A thriller, a gripping tale . . . that you will not set down until it is finished. Steinbeck has touched the quick.” —The New York Times

Of Mice and Men highlights the journey and bond of two migrant workers named Lennie and George who dreamed to have their own farm. The story shows the importance of friendship and loyalty, as George chose to be with Lennie even when Lennie is much of a burden. The story is heartwarming. Indeed, true friendship knows no boundaries.

The book format is much easier on the eyes. Good line spacing and relatively large print make this a good bus, subway, beach, or bedside read.

Blackwing 602 Pencil ($5.74) It’s the ideal pencil for illustrators and writers who prefer soft, dark lines. These pencils are crafted from incense cedar wood with a sleek, metallic gray lacquer coating.

Its unique rectangular pink eraser can be extended as it wears down from use, and also pops out completely from the pencil body in case it is needed to be replaced. The replacement erasers are available in a variety of colors.

Baron Fig Vanguard Pocket Notebook ($9) This notebook was designed with a thinner, soft cover and fewer pages than the Baron Fig’s original confidant hardcover notebooks.

One notable feature that I have observed is its binding stitching. The yellow stitching is noticeable enough to help your Vanguard notebooks more easily recognizable compared to other, similar notebooks.

The pages are blank so you can freely write your notes or even doodle on them.

Blackthorn Leather Notebook Cover ($50) Measuring 4.25 x 6.25 inches, this cover is enough to accommodate any pocket sized notebooks.

It’s made from the sought after “CrazyHorse” leather for a rugged aesthetic. It also has the Blackthorn logo engraved on the back.

They also provided a coupon code which you can use to get 10% discount on your next order at Blackthorn’s online shop.

The notebook cover is 100% handmade and are stitched with contrasting thread. It looks such a classic!

The pocket notebook we received and the Blackthorn cover make a perfect pair!

I’ve made a list of things to do using the notebook and the pencil I got this month!
