Universal Yums is a monthly international snack subscription box. Every month, you’ll take a trip to a new country and munch on brand new exciting snacks. There are two sizes of box, the Yum ($13) and the Yum Yum ($25). This is the Yum Yum box, and it’s a fun subscription that we get a kick out of each and every month.

This month the treats were from Greece!

These boxes are always so full and they send such an assortment of goodies to try out. I have them all opened up here but the smaller candies all come in a sealed plastic bag to keep them from floating all around and we got a great bonus item this month that you can see on the right.

The information comes in a booklet with the yums included and other fun information about the country.

This month’s introductory note shares some of the many things we can be Thankful to Greece for!

The information book has notes about all of the items and their ingredients.

These books are so informative – it includes a bit of the snack’s history and how it might taste.

Tsanos Moustokouloura Cookies – I’m a fan of cookies in general and these are pretty good. Not ones I would grab for all the time but good for every once in a while. They are made with grape must (a mixture of fresh pressed juice, skinds, seeds, and stems of the grapes) that aren’t turned into wines. They also have a touch of cinnamon added in.

Serenata Tripolo Wafer – A wafer cookie that has a thick and rich hazelnut cream and two crunchy layers of wafer. They are easy to eat and you will be through it before you know.

Tottis Onion Bread Chips – While most people think all Greeks sit down with pita bread that is not the case. They have lots of bread and the crispier the better. These are more like a crouton and are great on a salad or dipped in hummus like I did!

Sesame Pasteli with Almonds – A honey, sesame seed and almond bar. Pastelis date pretty far back and are a traditional snack.

Fourel Honey Candy – In ancient Greece, honey was considered “nectar of the gods.” These candies are hard on the outside/soft on the inside.

Croissant with Cocoa & Vanilla – Croissants are one of the most common breakfast foods in Greece. I love getting these as an easy on the go breakfast for our busy mornings.

Bergamot Jelly Candies – Bergamot is the same flavoring that is in Earl Gray tea and these candies are like tea in your mouth.

Olympos Peanut Halva – This is a big snack during the weeks of Lent. It is finely-ground sesame seeds and all-natural ingredients. This version also has peanuts in it.

Serenata Dark Chocolate Wafer – Wafer cookies and dark chocolate all in one! I’ll have more and more of these please.

Parthenon Green Olives with Fennel & Coriander – I’m already a fan of olives on the go so it was fun to get some in the box.

Ion Milk Chocolate with Almonds, Orange and Lemon Pieces – A great mix of chocolate and almonds but with the added flair of orange and lemon pieces. A great and different twist on a regular candy  bar.

Tottis Oregano Chips – I’ve told you guys before chips are my jam and I will always go for those first in most boxes.  I’m not sure what I was expecting these to taste like but I enjoyed them non-the-less. Really Universal Yums can send me chips from all countries and I’d be a happy girl.

Bliss Cocoa Toffee – The Cocoa tree has the nickname Theobroma Cacao which in Greek translates to “food of the gods.” I mean who doesn’t think cocoa is the best thing since sliced bread? These toffees have a milky base with a the chocolate outer layer.

Derby Chocolate Bar – A classic candy bar in Greece with its mix of coconut, crisped rice, and milk chocolate.

Universal Yums sent a great box from Greece. I was surprised to get so many chocolate items in this box. I had no clue that Greece had so many chocolate options. I’m not complaining just surprised. I also loved the olives as they are something I already eat in different versions and they are something that screams Greece to me but not something I would have through possible in a box.  What a great inclusion. The whole box was a huge win for us and now I want to go and visit Greece even more!

The back of the information booklet has a clue for the next country. Clue:

Roses are red, violets are…coming to you?!
So are madeleined, truffle chips, and hearts filled with goo
Next month: the best place to visit, if you’re in love
And if you’re not? No worries! At least you’ll have Yums!

Where do you think we are going? Next month we are going to get a spectacular assortment of Yums from France!
