Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, playlists, a fragrance bonus item, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

Everything arrives packed in a bag, preventing items from rolling around in the box.

Looks like this month we’re in for a little “me” time. Sephora is reminding subscribers to take a little time to care of themselves while getting ready for the upcoming holiday season.

Don’t forget about your Play! Pass. It gets you 50 extra Beauty Insider points with a purchase from the box (in-store only). Your subscription also entitles you to Play! Date meetups, if your store participates. How much fun is the coloring sheet! I might color this in during a masking session.

The November theme is Survival of the Chillest. This month’s products are all about self-care. The information packet also features some suggestions to help you stay in and maximize your alone time. And, don’t forget to check out The Beauty Insider Community. Create a profile and start joining the discussion!

The fold out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus product/brand trivia and beauty tips. You can access all of the information and also watch videos right on the Sephora site or use the app to scan the sheet for more info!

Everything in my box! My variation was box 957. Click here to see variant items in other boxes!

MARC JACOBS BEAUTY Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($13.82): Um, sorry about the blurry picture. This deluxe sample is about half a full-sized tube of mascara! The formula goes on a bit clumpy, but you can work it out for a really noticeable result. The concentrated black pigment gives maximum visual impact, and the curved brush design ensures that the mascara hits lashes in just the right places. If you’ve read my other make up reviews, you’ll know that I am always looking for a good mascara that has staying power and defines my puny lashes. This did just that, and the price is comparable to my regular mascara. Good to know for when I need a new tube.

ORIGINS Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores ($7.94): I am a mask lover, especially when it comes to clay or charcoal masks. This mask was a little looser/thinner than what I am used to, so I found it a little hard to build up a “generous” layer as suggested. Anyway… The active charcoal draws dirt while the white China clay absorbs oil and impurities from the skin to provide a clean, healthy appearance. I liked that this didn’t leave my skin feeling dry or tight after I washed it off.

Here’s a close up to show you the texture of the mask. It reminded me of the finger paints that I played with in elementary school.

MORROCANOIL Moroccanoil Treatment ($4.40): I think by now, everyone has heard about how good argan oil is for the skin and hair, so I won’t go into that. This treatment combines argan oil with linseed extract to hydrate and nourish hair. I used this after shampooing and conditioning my hair. It smelled great and left my hair incredibly soft. I feel like it cut my blow drying time in half too. My big complaint is that this doesn’t come with a dropper or pump, so had to be careful when pouring into my hand. Note: this product does contain silicones.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Shine Lip Gel in Perfect Nude ($10.91): This sample is just shy of a full-sized tube of gloss. Thank you, Sephora, for that! The finish of this formula was inspired by the high shine of a gel manicure. I found the gloss to be moisturizing, and only a little tacky. It has great staying power and lasted most of the day. The Perfect Nude shade added a nice shine to my lips and didn’t leave them with an ashy look.

I wanted to highlight the applicator on this gloss too. The curved shape was really comfortable on my lips, and I felt that it gave me better coverage with a single swipe. Also, the tapered tip made lining/filling my cupid’s bow easier.

A swatch of the color. Perfect Nude has a slight peachy tone, but it is goes on more like a healthy glow.

CAUDALIE Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum ($16.33): This hydrating serum has an oil-free formula that helps skin restore its moisture balance. This is intended to be used before your regular moisturizer to boost effects. However, I found that I was able to use this alone (I have combination/oily skin). It absorbs quickly and has a nice scent. As we get into the colder and drier months, I’ll use this with my night cream for an intense overnight treatment.

BURBERRY My Burberry Blush Eau de Perfume ($3.60): I liked this scent and felt that it fell into my spectrum of wearable fragrances. It surprised me since the key notes are pomegranate, rose, and jasmine. I don’t care for rose and jasmine is hit or miss. The softer formula allowed me to enjoy the scents instead of them overpowering my senses. This is a nice alternative to my daily fragrance – Burberry Brit Sheer. Does anyone else appreciate the vivid descriptions used for fragrances?

…the fragrance opens with sharp pomegranate fused with vibrant lemon. Delicate rose petal notes are lifted with crisp apple, while a base of jasmine and wisteria round off the scent for an intensely feminine touch.

This was a great Play! by Sephora box. I had a hard time choosing a favorite item and keep wavering between the Marc Jacobs mascara, Sephora gloss, and Origins mask. I guess that’s a good thing, LOL. As winter gets closer to Florida (our dry season), I’ll get more use out of the Moroccan Oil treatment and Caudalie serum. This subscription makes me happy and I love when ur arrives. The November box was valued at $57.
