FYI – if you’re looking for Birchbox US, be sure to check that out here.

January’s Birchbox is created in partnership with Ohh Deer, the British stationary brand founded as a platform for illustrators and artists.

I just love the box’s flamingo illustration. It brings a bit of sunshine to an otherwise dreary January.

DEAL:  Get free Eyeshadow Trio + Spectrum Brush with coupon code EYES! Valid until 1/31/18 or while stocks last.

There’s also a sheet of cheery stickers inside matching the box design.

January’s box theme is about shunning they typical New Year’s resolutions in favour of celebrating what sets you apart from the crowd, and embracing yourself just the way you are.  It says right on the box ‘stand tall and be fabulous’.

Every month an insert provides more details about each item.

Every January Birchbox includes a Lord & Berry Blusher Crayon (RRP £15). This is easy to apply, just draw on your cheeks and blend. A crayon didn’t strike me as the best way to apply blusher because some of the colour inevitably comes off on your fingers when blending, but luckily I didn’t find that to be much of a problem with this product. I also really liked the subtle yet vibrant peach shade which brightened my cheeks and complemented my skintone. This functional crayon is also great for travel – much easier to carry around than a compact and brush!

Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in Charcoal (RRP £10.99) is a long-lasting, smudge-resistant and waterproof eyeliner. This glides on easily and precisely. Charcoal is a darker shade than I would usually wear, but it works for a bold look. This compact little liner is just as nice as any liner I have ever tried.

Thermaliv Night Cream (RRP £15.75) promises to improve skin over night through the restructuring and nourishing properties of ingredients such as sea chamomile and vitamin E. This cream is surprisingly light-weight and has a pleasant fragrance. In the morning, my skin feels hydrated and soft without any irritation.

Luseta Beauty Keratin Smooth Conditioner (RRP £19) hydrates hair to prevent frizz and flyaways. I love this product! After just two uses my hair is bouncy and silky soft, not at all greasy or weighed down as often happens with conditioners.

Afterspa Amazing Makeup Remover (RRP £5.50) makes the lofty claim of removing all types of make-up with just the cloth and some water. I was skeptical that this would work, to say the least. I needn’t have been because this product is absolutely brilliant!

The super soft hot pink cloth removed all my make-up, including mascara and waterproof eyeliner, with just some hot water. It does require a bit more scrubbing than my usual liquid makeup remover, and if you wear heavy eye makeup I would recommend periodically using another product to more easily remove traces from along the lash line. Still, I highly recommend this product, particularly for people who have sensitive skin or want to avoid using harsh chemicals.

January’s Birchbox was a winner for me. I was most taken with the Afterspa makeup remover, however I genuinely like and would recommend all of the products. Not a bad start to the New Year!
