Funko has emailed out to subscribers of Smuggler’s Bounty, Marvel Collector Corps, and DC Legion of Collectors that all annual subscriptions are ending.

UPDATE: Disney Treasures has been added on 12/8.

Dear Valued Subscriber,

At Funko, we are continually working to deliver products and services in ways that are most meaningful to our collector community. While we work to assess our subscription programs in 2018 to align them more toward the ways our customers collect, we are discontinuing our annual subscription options starting January 1. As an annual subscriber, you will be affected by this change. When your annual subscription is due to renew in 2018, it will automatically convert to a bi-monthly subscription at the price of $25 (plus shipping and any applicable tax) per bi-monthly period, and your payment card will be charged this renewal price every two months until you cancel.

No action is needed from you unless you do not wish to renew as a bi-monthly subscriber at the end of your annual program year

If you want to opt out of this change and cancel your subscription, simply log into your account and turn auto renew off before your next charge date. Step-by-step instructions are included below. Turning auto renew off will not affect the remainder of your current annual subscription or your upcoming anniversary gift, which you will still receive.

  1. Log into your account at www.smugglersbounty.com/my-account.
  2. In the menu options, click My Subscriptions.
  3. Click the EDIT button to the right of your subscription.
  4. Next to the Auto renew radio button, click Off.
  5. Choose the option that best describes why you are leaving and click Turn Auto Renew Off.
  6. Click the orange Update button at the bottom of the pop-up screen.

For questions or assistance, contact customer support at [email protected]. Thank you for being a loyal subscriber, and we look forward to an exciting future with you as part of our collector community.

I think the main issue is the logistics and shipping costs of deliver every single box, is more easy for them deliver 100 boxes to a store, than deliver 100 boxes to 100 different addresses, plus no more issues with subscription problems, lost boxes, damage items, etc

Maybe it’s the pessimist in me, but I wonder if they’re having doubts about whether they’ll last another year? Month to month (or every other month in this case) seems a lot easier to handle if they did close and had to cancel all the subscriptions.

No it’s totally about the annual subscriber gift.
