Box of Thirds is a creative box sent out monthly showcasing artists from all over the world. Your Box of Thirds subscription supports small and independent artists and helps their work gain more exposure. The name Box of Thirds is a reference to the grid you place over a photo when framing the shot, where your point of interest should line up in the middle. Box of Third’s grid is the community that supports the artists, and I love this idea.

This is the November box. Due to some customs delays it took a bit to get here, but it did arrive safe and sound!

This month’s box included five items. The value of this box is $60, which is announced at the top of the card.

Sumo Tote Bag ($14.53) — Made by Maskcrow in Hong Kong, who is a very talented illustrator. The cotton canvase tote bag is nice and roomy and great for toting books or groceries.

Sushi Notepad ($6.90) — Made by DarwinDesigns in the UK. I love sushi and this notepad is so incredibly adorable.

Matcha Greeting Card ($4.22) — Made by WoodandKead in Singapore! How cute is this matcha ice cream cone? Perfect to giving to someone you love so matcha!

Daruma Pin ($13.38) — Made by GeriDrawsJapan in the UK. A Daruma is a Japanese figure with blank eyes. You draw in one eye and set a goal for yourself, and once you achieve your goal you fill in the other eye, too!

Matcha Lip Balm ($4.78) — Made by Oil Herb & Me in Vancouver, Canada! Woooohoo, Vancity represent! Sorry, I got excited. This is a simple green tea lip balm that is great for winter.

I calculated the retail value of all of the items and came up with $43.75 which is less than the retail value on the information card. The subscription will cost you $38.95 monthly and while shipping within Singapore is free, shipping internationally is around $9.50. I don’t think this is a really value-savvy subscription box and would like to see another item included, or at least something a bit more substantial. That said, ordering all of the items separately with shipping would definitely cost more than the box! I LOVED the Japan theme and thought the items included were perfect!
