SnackFever is a monthly subscription box that delivers all your favorite Korean snacks, as well as other hard-to-find Korean treats. Each month, subscribers will get 5 to 12 Korean snacks and treats, depending on their subscription. Snack Fever is available in three boxes, the mini box, the original box, and the deluxe box, and subscriptions are $12, $20, and $40, respectively, every month.

The oppas are really funny.  This translates to, “was it a long wait?”

DEAL: Save $3 off your first box (Mini, Original, Deluxe). Use coupon code HELLOSUB3.

SnackFever‘s September theme is character, as in cartoon character. This month’s box was a collaboration with electural, creators of ThumThum (seen here with Mandoo).

ICYMI, SnackFever has changed it’s shipping point. Boxes are now coming “Straight Outta Korea”, instead of Koreatown! There’s also a chance for you to win 1 of 3 monthly Daebak (swag) boxes.

I still can’t believe how much goes into each of these boxes! This doesn’t even include the ThumThum swag that was my bonus gift. For a full list of contents in each size box, click here. To see all of our SnackFever reviews (Brandy covers the Original box review), click here.

Nong Shim | Soldier Charcoal Barbecue Flavor: These bite-sized snacks had a texture similar to raw ramyun noodles. The flavor wasn’t American barbecue but Korean barbecue. They were interesting to say the, least.

Crown | Potato Waffle Snack: This is a savory potato snack. It was kind of like a latke that had been cooked in a waffle iron, only crispier. They reminded me of the potato snacks I normally get at the Korean store, just with a different shape.

Lotte | Skinny Cacao Pepero:  The same as regular cacao Pepero but with a thinner cookie center; chocolate biscuit dipped in chocolate. These went SUPER fast – so much so that I almost didn’t get a picture of the box.

Haitai | Sour Chewy Lemon Cola Flavor:  I am saving this for my niece. She loves sour candy, especially sour belts. This version is lemon cola flavored. Not sure if that means it’s more like Coke with lemon or Sprite… I’m banking on the first one. Looking at the graphic on the package, it is full of pucker power too.

Frito Lay | Cheetos – Bulgogi Flavor:  I don’t know what I was expecting with these. They’re a little different from regular Cheetos in a few ways. First, they are minis. Next, the texture was closer to off brand onion rings. And lastly, no orange fingers! I was impressed by the bulgogi flavor; it was pretty accurate. I totally devoured this bag in minutes.

Here’s a closer look at the Cheetos.

Doraemon Churros:  I hate to admit it, but this was my breakfast during my drive to work. The churro is crispy and filled with a sweet cream inside that reminded me of sweetened cream cheese (just a little lighter). It felt like I was having a cinnamon/sugar cereal bar.

Lotte | Kancho Strawberry Flavor:  Variations of these biscuits come pretty regularly in Snack Fever (think of last month’s Koala’s March). These bite-sized cookies feature character prints on the outside and strawberry creme on the inside. The creme is pretty sweet, so have a glass of milk handy.

Haitai | Glutton Larvae Cookie:  Not going to lie, these cookies have a horribly unappetizing name. The characters on the front of the package are from the show Larva Rangers. These are cheese flavored cookies enriched with Calcium, Iron, and vitamins. My dad tried these and said that they weren’t bad (which means they’re good) and not as cheesy as he thought they’d be.

Haitai | Berry Berry Tong Tong Chewing Gum:  Totally tapping into the video game craze with this packaging (Minecraft or old school NES, anyone?). I haven’t seen gum in this type of pack since I was a kid. I always got into trouble for rattling the gum container. The pieces are Chiclet mini sized and berry flavored. Lots of fun for the little ones or those young at heart.

Here’s a closer look at the gum. Note the price on the left of the container – ₩1000 or roughly $0.89.

Orion | King Gorehbab Stir-Fry Seasoned Flavor:  I received these a while back in another Snack Fever box. Gorehbab literally translates to whale food. These cute sealife-shaped crackers are cuttlefish and seaweed flavored. Yes, they are very fishy.

Haitai | Squeeze Me Gum Sour Fruits Flavor-Tube Type:  So I was expecting this to be a sour gum based on the package and name, but it’s not. It’s a super sour fruity candy paste.

Lotte | Watta Gum Cola Flavor:  These sticks of gum definitely captured the cola taste. They also have a small amount of sugar crystals that gave a little bit of a carbonated feeling when you initially chewed. I liked the gum, but the down side is that it is very soft  and I felt like I was chewing more than normal in an attempt to get to a firmer consistency.

Minute Maid | Qoo Jelly Beverage Grape Flavor:  I didn’t know if I was supposed to treat this like a drink or a jelly snack. The grape flavor was good and not overly artificial tasting. My 2-year old nephew seemed to enjoy this.

Haitai | Pororo Kids’ Milk:  The Snack Fever team described these as milk flavored jellies. They’re not. They are hard candy tablets, with a texture that is similar to a Necco wafer. The milk flavor is there, although it reminded me of non-dairy powdered creamer. I liked them, but I think they are an acquired taste.

**Deluxe BONUS** electural Studios ThumThum Swag:  (from left to right) ThumThum product guide, PVC key chain, postcard #1, plush backpack clip, Snack Fever sticker set, postcard #2, Thumna Lisa compact mirror, and foam stickers. Postcard #1 features WangCon, king of Corn Empire, another character from Electural Studios. The foam stickers feature MungMung (ThumThum’s canine friend) and Hachan (a large cat’s paw character).

ThumThum is described as “a thumb shaped baby character with facial expression of surprised mouth and eyes, fingerprint-shaped (spiral shape) hair, and a charming protruding butt wearing diaper. Being pure, cheerful, curious, and full of abundant positive energy, it unintentionally makes trouble. With his best canine friend ‘MungMung’, he is on an adventure to find ‘Thumtopia’. As it likes chocolate milk best, ThumThum likes ‘Choco’, but Choco actually thinks ThumThum as its enemy.”

Not sure what to make of this character, but the various collections that it has are fun to look at. You should check out the famous painting collection for a good laugh.

I always enjoy getting my Snack Fever box. Despite growing up with many of the snacks presented, the team still manages to find treats that are new to me. It will be interesting to see how the curation changes now that boxes are shipping directly from Korea. I was slightly saddened to see that there weren’t any quick meal items in this month’s box and am hopeful they return next month. What did you think of September’s snacks?
