Everything in my October 2017 box!

I picked Science Fiction this month. My box includes one (1) newly released book, plus several bookish goods as well as the fantasy add-on

FYI – the bookish goods are the same over all the subscriptions. Here are the books in the other subscriptions (all hardcover prices):

An Unkindness Of Ghosts By Rivers Solomon ($10.97)

Aster has little to offer folks in the way of rebuttal when they call her ogre and freak. She’s used to the names; she only wishes there was more truth to them. If she were truly a monster, she’d be powerful enough to tear down the walls around her until nothing remains of her world.

Aster lives in the lowdeck slums of the HSS Matilda, a space vessel organized much like the antebellum South. For generations, Matilda has ferried the last of humanity to a mythical Promised Land. On its way, the ship’s leaders have imposed harsh moral restrictions and deep indignities on dark-skinned sharecroppers like Aster. Embroiled in a grudge with a brutal overseer, Aster learns there may be a way to improve her lot–if she’s willing to sow the seeds of civil war.

It’s a creative story that will keep you engaged from page to page. I like how it tackles realistic issues of race and gender despite the setting being in the sci-fi world.

I always look forward to the trivia they provide on sticky notes.

Author notes are always insightful and it also makes the whole reading experience more fun!

A compelling plot + well-rounded characters = a book that’s hard to put down.

Aside from information that will help us understand the story better, there are fun notes about the author’s writing process and the changes the drafts/books underwent before it landed in the reader’s hands. Not necessary, but fun to know nonetheless.

Each book from PageHabit also comes with a letter from the author. This one is quite long!

PageHabit Bookmark. A bookmark printed on high-quality paper.

It features the PageHabit logo on one side, and Albert Einstein on the other.

“The only thing that you absolutely have to know is the way to the library.”

A Plague Of Giants By Kevin Hearne ($18.28)

From the author of The Iron Druid Chronicles, a thrilling novel that kicks off a fantasy series with an entirely new mythology—complete with shape-shifting bards, fire-wielding giants, and children who can speak to astonishing beasts.

This one’s for fans of epic fantasy!

It’s an entertaining read. You might be overwhelmed at first because there are lots of characters involved in the story, but do give it a try!

There’s even a map of the fictional world created by Kevin Hearne.

Of course, it contains annotations from the author.

There are lots of notes inside the book. I don’t know about you but I really find these fun and exciting!

Yes to nerdy stuff!

This is just one part of a trilogy. I’m looking forward to the next books!

Halloween Pumpkin Keychain. A classic Halloween-themed keychain!

Halloween is not complete without a carved pumpkin! But this one’s more on the cute side than scary.

Rocketship Tea Infuser (?) A stainless steel tea infuser.

You can fill it up with your favorite loose leaf tea and then steep.

You can rest the ship on the included drip tray when you’re done.

Page Habit Pillow Case. The cutest thing in this month’s box!

It’s the perfect pillow case for any library junkie!

Page Habit has a lot of genres available and it’s totally up to you to choose which you want to receive. I think it’s great, because you’ll never have to receive a book that’s not right up your alley. They just recently added Sci-Fi and I’m beyond happy about it! The bookish items they send are all awesome too. If you haven’t guessed it yet, my favorite item is the library card pillow case!

What genre is your favorite?
