Macy’s Face The Facts Cosmetic Bag – Every month comes with a completely new beauty bag.

It seems to me they are trying to target the younger crowd with their bags, which may not align with the products they are sending. I think this subscription is a little confused and needs some work to be honest.

Elizabeth Arden Superstart Skin Renewal Booster ($11.39) For a fresher and healthier looking skin.

This skin renewal booster is made with plant extracts and probiotic fortifiers, which help in strengthening the skin’s natural defenses.

Key ingredients include flax seed and sea fennel. For best results, it should be applied before a serum or moisturizer because it also boosts the results of other skin care products. Of course, it takes a while before you see full results, but so far it feels hydrating on the skin and there’s no weird smell – it’s scented like sea minerals!

LANCÔME Énergie de Vie Water-Infused Moisturizing Cream ($16.15) Packed with cranberry, lemon balm, and vitamin E. It’s ideal for most skin types, including sensitive skin. I like how it gives the skin an instant dewy glow. It’s great for dry skin and for those who have uneven skin tone too.

This is the season of gel creams! I can’t complain because I love the texture! This is a pretty nice sample size for a pricey product and my only complaint is the scent… it smells like a department store skincare product and I wouldn’t purchase it or really even put it on my face again. This one’s relegated to limbs and chest, it’s just too scented for my face.

Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask ($4.05) This mask is for deep cleaning and minimizing pores. It doesn’t strip the skin of moisture – after 15 minutes of letting it dry and washing it off my skin was smooth and looked more clear. This is a really great charcoal mask – and even better, not smelly.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer  ($6.95) This is the gold standard for primers and leaves such a great smooth finish for makeup. You can also use it by itself for a smoothed out look.

However… it seems overdone the last few months! Smashbox seems to have an overstock in samples of the original and while it’s useful – I still haven’t been able to try their latest version and I seem to have moved on to other brands with updated ingredients.

Strivectin Multi-Action Stress Defense Hydrating Water Gel ($12.14) See – more water gel! At least I can’t fault Macy’s for going along with this tend as Sephora featured a couple items in this vein last month too.

I have dry skin so I didn’t find this particularly hydrating – I would call it a matte finish for sure – but I am addicted to water gels anyways because I love the texture. This one features amino acids to reduce signs of wrinkles and stress.

YSL Black Opium Eau De Parfum  ($3.36) A very feminine fragrance with addictive floral notes. It lasts forever once you put it on!

It has notes of Coffee Accord, Orange Blossom, Cedarwood Essence, and Patchouli Essence. Gotta love the alluring scent it brings, would be great to use for a date night. But any other time of the day will do too since it smells really good! I was surprised how much I liked this one, it’s not normally something I go for, but the scent was yummy.

Compared to last month’s box, this month’s haul from Macy’s has a higher value — a total of $54. Obviously, I loved the water gels that they sent, but overall there’s still a lot of room for improvement for the curation, which may be hard to do as it’s clear they have deals with a certain few large brands carried at Macy’s.
