ReadDog Books is a personalized curated book subscription box where the book is chosen based on your preferences. When you subscribe, you fill out a quick little form where they ask you what kind of book you like, which one did you love, what’s your ideal reading experience, etc. This subscription is $31.99 with free US shipping ($8 to Canada and $15 international), with discounts for longer subscriptions. Honestly, I’m so excited when I see that super long box in my mailbox, it turns my day into a happy and smiling day!

There’s a note about the theme for the month, regardless of the personalised book chosen for each subscriber. For August, the theme is “Fairy Tale Ending,” a theme inspired by this box’s curators’ journey. This is a fun reminder that everyone of us have happily-ever-after moments in our life!

To accompany us in our Fairy Tale Endings, we get a cute teapot charm, a small wooden heart and a magnet saying, “the smell of books calms me. Yes, yes, it does!

Bubble gums (lots of them!) and a bookmark with a quote about fairy tales.

Look at this fun carnival mask! And after some digging in the box, I found three wooden hearts, one with the saying “Happily Ever After.” So fun and cute!

Every month, we get a little something to drink. This month’s tea is Mango Oolong Tea from KuCha House of Tea. It came with tea bags.

I love this print! Dragons, unicorns, even a winged unicorn! Mixed with a lazy afternoon reading by the swimming pool, this is my life in summer (or what I wish it could be).

As usual, the book comes all wrapped up! It keeps you guessing as you go through the other goodies, an extra gift within a gift!

This month, I’ve received The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey ($7.99).

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother–or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

And it’s a YA. I don’t like YA, and even though this book was quite popular not too long ago, I’ve always avoided it. But because I’ve been quite happy with Read Dog choices for me so far, I’m willing to give this book a chance.

Every time I get my Read Dog Box, I get excited to see what new book to me I’ll be getting. Sadly, I think that this month was a bit off my preferences, but I’m always willing to give a chance to a book that someone took the time to choose fore me, and this is definitely what I’ve felt so far in my subscription.

I love how they have a theme for the box, not around a specific book, and that you can share your thoughts in their reading community. What’s also nice about this subscription is that if you have already read the book, or own the book, or hated the book, they will exchange your book for a different one! So the avid reader who seems to have read everything will get something new, guaranteed!

Once you have received and enjoy your box, you can fill out a survey about your experience so they can send you an even better box next time! And if you have more specific demands about the kind of books you want, just send them an email!

I was just talking about this book with my friend. Her son read it and told her she would like it and she really liked it. Then she saw the movie and said that wasn’t as good but she highly recommends the book. I’m going to have to check it out sometime.
