Owl Crate is a monthly subscription of books and bookish items box. Each OwlCrate contains one new Young Adult novel, as well as 3-5 other bookish items all matched to the monthly theme. I’ve been slacking on my reading this summer but with the fall and winter months coming up I can’t wait to get back into the swing of things.

September’s OwlCrate theme is Mythical Creatures. OwlCrate always has the best info card prints. One side is a print representing the theme and the other side is the information for the box contents.

The information card tells a little bit about all the items in this month’s box along with little comments on why they were selected or other fun tidbits. The theme follows through even with the info. It is always decorated to go along with that month.

Everything in my September Mythical Creatures OwlCrate.

This month in addition to the information card OwlCrate included a fun little brochure of information.

First up we get an interview with the author and a look at the difference between our exclusive cover and the original cover.

It also included some fun games and more info on a couple of the items.

Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows ($12.36) – This is the first book in the Fallen Isles trilogy. A series of mystery in a world of magic and dragons.  I’m really not sure what could be better then magic and dragons they are a combination that goes so well together. I can’t wait to see the world behind all the mystery.

Before
Mira Minkoba is the Hopebearer. Since the day she was born, she’s been told she’s special. Important. Perfect. She’s known across the Fallen Isles not just for her beauty, but for the Mira Treaty named after her, a peace agreement which united the seven islands against their enemies on the mainland.
But Mira has never felt as perfect as everyone says. She counts compulsively. She struggles with crippling anxiety. And she’s far too interested in dragons for a girl of her station.

After
Then Mira discovers an explosive secret that challenges everything she and the Treaty stand for. Betrayed by the very people she spent her life serving, Mira is sentenced to the Pit–the deadliest prison in the Fallen Isles. There, a cruel guard would do anything to discover the secret she would die to protect.
No longer beholden to those who betrayed her, Mira must learn to survive on her own and unearth the dark truths about the Fallen Isles–and herself–before her very world begins to collapse.

Jodi Meadows’s new Fallen Isles series blazes with endangered magic, slow-burn romance, and inner fire.

The book also came with a signed bookplate, a note from the author, and and a guide to the isles.

Don’t forget that Owl Crate is now sending exclusive covers with their books (most months). There is a sticker that comes on the plastic bag that the book is shipped in but since I take the books out I decided that I would put the sticker on the inside sleeve. This way I will always remember where it came from and if I decide to look later why the cover is different then I see around.

Dragon Coin purse (exclusive to OwlCrate) – What a fun canvas coin bag. I keep bags like this in my purse and my craft bag to hold all kinds of miscellaneous goodies in them along with coins. I don’t carry a bunch of coins but I do always have some with me.

This is a really nice canvas coin bag. It has a nice texture to the outside and is even lined on the inside. It is really nicely put together.

Mother of Dragons by Ink and Wonder Designs – This bookmark is a thin piece of wood and is a total tattoo design. It is gorgeous and while I don’t watch Game of Thrones I know who this is. I have an obsessed friend so I’m going to add this to the next card I mail down to her.

Son of Poseidon Bath Salts by The Soap Librarian – My boys are currently obsessed with Percy Jackson and everything mythology so they want to take this over. I’m thinking this needs to be a bath for me so I might hide it away from them.

Look at all the great products in here. I can’t wait for a night I can just soak my cares away with this one.

Book Sleeve from Book Beau – I don’t own any book sleeves but I think I might be in love. This is a gorgeous sleeve that will hold most paperbacks and smaller hardback books. This will be fantastic to take books on the go and read them out and about. The print is perfect for a Mythical Creatures theme with mermaids and unicorns. It’s a perfect fit.

The inside is nice and thick and will protect my books.

Hagrid Sticker by Susanne Draws – We are a Harry Potter family and this sticker is so cute. It is our favorite Hagrid along with Buckbeak. They look so happy together.

OwlCrate sends a pin each month representing the theme. What does everyone do with their pins? I have a collection of them that I would like to show off but not sure the best way to do that yet.

October 2017 theme is Find Me in the Forest!

? Our book pick this month is a stunning magical realism novel all about family, curses and gardens. It features some of the most beautiful writing we’ve ever read and has fantastic diverse characters that will break your heart. ? Items in the box are inspired by Harry Potter, Robin Hood, The Raven Boys, Princess Mononoke, Where the Wild Things Are and more! This box is jam packed with SIX fabulous goodies.
? For the first time ever we will be including a mug!! And trust us, this mug is incredible. It’s a true work of art and is perfect for any Harry Potter fans!

I gave in and got this month’s owlcrate and I was blown away at the quality.

I’ve gotten other monthly boxes that have sent really low quality and cheap items so it was a nice change to get something I could use that wouldn’t fall apart.
