All of the fun goodies that came in the Magic box this month.

The back of the info card has a cute little comic on it. My boys love these and just laugh and laugh and laugh.

The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare ($5.75) – This is the first in the Magisterium Series which is about Callum who goes to a magical school. This sounds fantastic and is co-written by Cassandra Clare who also writes the Mortal Instruments series and I’m a bit obsessed with that one so I’m excited to co-read this with my son.

Most kids would do anything to pass the Iron Trial.

Not Callum Hunt. He wants to fail.

All his life, Call has been warned by his father to stay away from magic. If he succeeds at the Iron Trial and is admitted into the Magisterium, he is sure it can only mean bad things for him.

So he tries his best to do his worst — and fails at failing.

Now the Magisterium awaits him. It’s a place that’s both sensational and sinister, with dark ties to his past and a twisty path to his future.

The Iron Trial is just the beginning, for the biggest test is still to come . . .

From the remarkable imaginations of bestselling authors Holly Black and Cassandra Clare comes a heart-stopping, mind-blowing, pulse-pounding plunge into the magical unknown.

[Editor’s Note: I’m going to have to get this book for my kids! It looks great!]

Kidzlabs Math Magic ($14.99) – We actually like math games and puzzles especially my husband so the boys want to figure these out and show him their tricks.

Kidzlabs Magic Nails ($6.95) – We went to Wonderworks this summer and since then my boys are obsessed with the Bed of Nails and anything that includes nails. This is a great way to incorporate that with other science and fun learning.

Pocket Magic Rope Trick ($6.50) – This is a great fun starter trick for our budding magician.

Pocket Magic Shrinking Dice ($3.98) – A trick of illusion. You can make the dice appear to shrink right before your eyes using the mini-magic wand. So fun.

Kids Prize Pack sent a Magical Box this month. We are not big magician people but my boys thought the included extras looked fun. They especially liked the Math Magic. They both love anything that is like fun with numbers.  I was most excited for the book this month. I did not know Cassandra Clare wrote a series for the young reader and I’m excited that it is something I will be interested in reading with my son. He thinks its great when we can find books by some of the same authors that I read. I’m pretty sure he just thinks it makes him more grown up and he doesn’t realize that it was written for a younger audience but I’ll take whatever I can that keeps him interested in reading.
