Everything in my box!  Alas, my box selections didn’t save, and I have a pre-selected box, of which I wanted precisely zero of the things.

Free stickers instead of candy. That’s alright but I feel like telling Julep to stop trying to make fetch happen.

Julep’s Beauty Box subscription is customizable – you can swap out products to get exactly what you want from the available selections. Unless your box selections don’t save – then you’ll get a preselected box.

I didn’t choose any of these items. I had selected the powder, the Hana polish, and I think nail stickers.  Julep was zero help and basically didn’t care. From a UX standpoint, this isn’t the first time this has happened. I spent a good 15 minutes looking at which polishes were new and making my selections – because I knew I had the polish on the left already.

Skip the Brush Crème-To-Powder Blush Stick ($24) In Sweet Peach. This is a cream to powder blush, and it has new packaging.

This is described as a Light Peachy Pink Sheen. Julep wants me to wear this on my eyes and lips, but I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t be recommended for this shade. I like the cream to powder formula but this is my least favorite out of all the colors.

August Bombshell Nail Polish ($5) This isn’t a new polish – I got it in February. Of this year.  It’s a Chocolate Cherry Ghost Shimmer but they really mean ghost, because there’s no shimmer.  It’s as close to black as you can get – see swatch here.

Karin It Girl Nail Polish ($5) Powdered Lilac Crème. Despite being extraordinarily perturbed at the rest of my box, I loved this shade. It’s a lavender neutral and I think perfect for year round wear. Plus, there’s enough pigment in it where it’s not sheer at all and the finish is super glossy (just painted my nails this minute!).

I usually absolutely love my Julep boxes – they are one of the very best deals (especially if you prepay your box) but I can’t help but feel annoyed at Julep’s lack of care to the issue of improperly saved boxes – which is not limited to me (and I might add that I have lots of experience making box selections!). I think I’d prefer an ajax box selection experience that updates your box on the fly and doesn’t require multiple confirmation screens. Plus, after this many years, I would expect Julep to be able to alert me about duplicate polishes – and not send them to me automatically.

What did you pick in your Julep Beauty Box this month? Or did you get nailed with an accidental preselected box?
