Every month targets a different aspect of the life that a well-cultured man. August’s theme was “The Brickell Men’s Grooming Box,” and it features Brickell Men products.

Everything in the August Culture Carton.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline ($16 on card, $9.60 on Amazon):  Ernest Cline’s New York Times Bestseller is an awesome choice for this month’s box — now you can read it before the movie hits theaters and tell everyone how it’s “not as good as the book.”

I read this last year and found it to be completely enthralling. It has something for everyone – lots of geeky stuff, a nice sci-fi feel, tons of cultural touchstones from the 1980’s, adventure, puzzles, and even a bit of romance.

Like most good science fiction, Cline’s novel envisions a world that is different culturally and technologically from ours, but only by degree. The novel is set in a dystopian future where people live in squalid trailer park highrises, escaping as often as they can to a virtual reality realm, the OASIS, where they can be and do nearly anything. When the creator of the OASIS, the world’s richest man, dies, he leaves his fortune to the first person to complete an OASIS-wide treasure hunt filled with 1980’s trivia and head-nods. The ensuing adventure is tons of geeky fun.

Brickell Clarifying Gel Face Wash ($25): This Gel Face Wash is formulated especially for men, and gives a super clean and clear feel to the skin. The product comes in a big 8-oz bottle, so you’re definitely getting more bang for your buck.

Made with mostly natural and organic ingredients, Brickell’s Gel Face Wash cleans, clarifies and keeps your skin looking bright and fresh.

Brickell Daily Essential Face Moisturizer ($35): Never go without moisturizer. Packed with good stuff like aloe vera and jojoba, this one is lightweight and non-greasy, so it’s great for daily use.

All natural and organic, with no parabens, pthalates, or similar bad stuff, this scientifically-tested formula keeps skin soft and supple, takes away dryness and prevents early signs of aging.

Brickell Men’s Renewing Face Scrub ($22): Dead skin cells that make your skin look dull and old. This scrub not only gets rid of dirt, it also rejuvenates your skin by improving circulation.

The texture is actually quite smooth and doesn’t feel gritty.

This is fun subscription for self-improvers. Every box has a book that is either a great read or relates to some area of self improvement, so there is something to learn or stimulate your brain every month. I like that it limits itself to a manageable number of high-quality items instead of lobbing in cheap stuff as filler. Each product in this box was a huge full-size bottle! The value is usually good – this month had a value of about $91.60 (listed $93 on card) – pretty good deal for a $40 subscription!
