Everything in the September 2017 Birchbox Your Time to Shine Curated Box!
Wilma Schumann Skin Care Mouth & Lips Age-Defying Masque ($4.40)
It’s like an eye gel – except for your lips! It has glycerin and hyaluronic acid for hydration, and collagen for a more long-lasting effect.
Like regular eye gels it’s super slippery so tilt your head back until it dries out more. Did I mention this is for your WHOLE lip area?
Lord & Berry Strobing Pencil ($10) This shimmery highliter pencil is for accenting your cheekbones, cupid’s bone, bridge of your nose, brow bone, corners of your eyes. 
It has a nice coppery glow to it – perfect for fall. Plus, it applied super creamy – it has vitamin E in the formula to make it nice and smooth.
Pixi by Petra LipLift Max in Sheer Rose ($6.22) This is a plumping gloss with aloe, jojoba, and chamomile for hydrating and plumping.
I absolutely adore the color on – it’s basically the most perfect color and translucency – but I don’t know if I can get over the light mint taste/scent. It was just lightly mint so it wasn’t minty enough and just weird. I hope that makes sense! Otherwise – loved it!
R+Co DEATH VALLEY Dry Shampoo ($17) It has a seriously hard spray which means it’s blasting the drying action right at your roots. This had an excellent scent and I would classify it as a light dry shampoo – enough to perk you up and absorb some oil – but no big texturizing action. FYI – based on the full-size price (the $17 is for the travel size itself), it’s about $10 less.
12 Benefits Ocean Hair ($9) This is a totally new to me brand – and the card says it’s a Birchbox exclusive. This beachy spray is designed for damp or dry hair (yay!) and is supposed to both smooth and create texture. The scent is black tea & honey which is odd, but maybe a welcome relief if you’re over traditional beach spray scents. I thought the pump sprayer was a bit heavy (the card promises it won’t weigh your hair down but I thought the spray was too wet). Despite that I got some nice volume!
I came up with $27-37 for the value of this box, depending on how you calculate it (I’m tending towards the lower end – with the Pixi there’s not a lot there!). A good box – but a lot fewer prestige brands than the past couple curated boxes. But I’d say definitely worth it – I liked all the products this month! Nothing was a game changer but everything was super solid – and I can never say no to more R+Co!
