The theme this month is Damn It’s Hot. These flavors promise to make your taste buds sweat. And they weren’t kidding!
Everything in my box of life-changing granola. There, I said it. When I started this blog well over 4 years ago granola got so overplayed, it was in all the boxes, I couldn’t eat it for 2 years. But so much has changed in the world of granola, including this amazing subscription.
First off, there are multiple ways to buy Bear Naked granola, including their standard pre-made blends. But they have nothing on their custom granola!
Eastern Spice Granola: These are the cutest little cans!
The cants are closed with little bits of tape and have a fun story about the bear on the front.
A label on the side gives the name of the granola – the granola base, plus the seasonings & mix-ins. You can also customize your own blends on the Bear Naked site (or even re-make your fave from the curated picks!).
The top is adorable.
The inside is a resealable bag with complete ingredients as well as the blended on date. We received our granola TWO DAYS after it was made, and it’s so good.
The bag is totally full!
The granola has a sweet honey base, spicy curry, peanuts, and gingered organic coconut chips – just like the label says. I think all the blends have soy crisps but I’m not really sure. The flavor was strongly curried and quite spicy. We would love to eat this on some kheer (Indian rice pudding) for breakfast. It would be so good. The cumin & turmeric come through strongly and we can’t get enough of this spicy, savory mix.
Sweet Heat Granola
The packaging is just adorable.
Ok, remember where I said they weren’t kidding about being hot? I tried the curry granola first and felt the heat. My husband and I love spicy (and I particularly adore chocolate + red pepper) and this was HOT! It wasn’t near to uncomfortable but it sure as heck was surprising for a granola subscription. I am certain that a lot of subscribers were taken aback by the heat.
This mix has chocolate granola seasoned with chipotle essential oil, dark chocolate chunks, and dried cherries.
This is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.
The amount of mixins is incredible and for the price, you get a lot of super high quality granola. I’m totally blown away. This blend is incredible and I cannot stop eating it. This granola was a little chunkier than the honey base one – I’m guessing because the summer heat makes the pieces a little sticky, but the chocolate shipped just fine! In addition to the soy crisps there was ground flax in each blend, too.

It might be worth it for the funny story on the back!
These granolas were some of the best things I’ve eaten all year. It certainly doesn’t hurt that I do like a savory granola and I’m open to anything with a good dose of heat, but they were just so amazing and tasty! I think they were a great advertisement of what they can do with more traditional flavors as well. For sure month after month I’d probably want sweeter blends for my greek yogurt and cottage cheese (which is how I prefer to have granola) but these were amazing snacks – and opened up the possibility to me for granola to be more than a breakfast food. These will never make it out of my office – after a day my husband & I have devoured half the box!
