The Target Art & Craft Kit is a monthly art & craft subscription for kids ages 6-10. You’ll receive a different pre-packaged crafting activity each month shipped from Target for $14.99.

Like the previous months, we received a single commercially available craft kit.

The STMT DIY Alphabet Jewelry retails for $14.99 at Target.

TIPS: Use your Target Red Card for a discount. Plus, be sure to subscribe to the kit for an additional 5% off!

My 8 year old daughter (9 in December) was pretty pumped to see this kit!

It has a full listing of everything it includes – and it’s a lot – plenty to make gobs of bracelets and necklaces.

Everything in the kit!

An included booklet had techniques and instructions for. jewelry making.

The instruction booklet shows you how to make an alphabet cord bracelet or necklace!

There are multiple sets of letters in different forms, plus different styles of beads, cords and chains, a few ideas like the Love <3 It, jewelry pliers, eye pins, jump rings, and other findings and beads.

Our daughter went with us to visit a friend last summer and learned some basic jewelry making, so she knew how to use the eyepins, pliers, and jump rings.

The chains allowed her to pick exactly the style to express herself.

And there are sooo many letters – with lots of multiples of course!

My favorite are the iridescent beads.

She got right to work, using the instructions as a guide. She wasn’t quite strong enough to cut the chain herself, so dad ended up doing it. That’s pretty much the only intervention we had with this kit.

Here I believe she is forming a loop with the other end of the eyepin.

Making sure everything is perfect!

So proud of her for this completed project. What does it spell? CORNZ – for unicorns!

This was a better kit than in the past – but we’re still disappointed with the lack of premium value for this subscription (the kit costs the same as the subscription) and to be honest – it’s not as exciting as it is when Doodle Crate comes in the house. That being said, both this month and last month were good projects for kids – but the variance between last month (good for my toddler) and this month (good for my nearly 9 year old that happened to know exactly what to do with the jewelry) was disappointing. Plus – this kit is rated for kids 14+! This doesn’t surprise me at all – the techniques are the exact same as adults use when making beaded jewelry. I couldn’t say that this month’s kit would be appropriate for a 6 or 7 year old at all.

Did you grab a Target Art & Craft Kit this month? Let me know what you thought!
