Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, playlists, a fragrance bonus item, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

Everything arrived packed in a bag, preventing items from rolling around in the box. We’ve returned to the drawstring bag this month and are celebrating summer (no, unfortunately, it’s not me but the season… LOL).

Don’t forget about your PLAY! Pass. It gets you 50 extra Beauty Insider points with a purchase from the box (in-store only). Your subscription also entitles you to PLAY! Date meetups if your store participates.

The June theme is Summer Starters. This month’s products are warm weather must-haves. The inside of the pamphlet features some tips to help you with multiple summer situations so you always come out a beauty.

The fold out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus product/brand trivia and beauty tips. You can access all of the information and also watch the videos right on the Sephora site or use the app to scan the sheet for more info!

Everything in my box! My variation was box 042. Click here to see variant items in other boxes!

benefit | the POREfessional ($3.27): This oil-free primer contains Vitamin E to moisturize and protect skin. I like that this was lightweight and gave a smooth finish. However, it wasn’t as mattifying as I’d hoped and there was still a little shine to my nose midday.

Kat Von D | Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – K Dub ($9.09): This is a identified as a bold fuchsia – yep, I concur. The formula is highly pigmented but glides on super smooth with a matte finish. My sister and niece love the Kat Von D line and this was swiped immediately. I didn’t complain because, although I like the color, this was too bright for me.

Here’s a look at the lipstick when first applied (left) and after drying (right).

First Aid Beauty | Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer ($5.60): So, not sure what’s going on with the curators at Sephora. Did I really need 2 primers in my box? Anyway, this is actually a moisturizer that doubles as a primer. It felt lightweight on my skin and didn’t cause me to breakout. That usually happens when I wear a primer under my makeup.

IGK | Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel ($4.50): I stopped using gel years ago because it weighed down my hair so badly. This formula is designed for fine to normal hair, so I’m excited to try it. Hopefully, it gives me more of a controlled beachy look instead of a hair helmet. It contains coconut oil to nourish hair and comfrey extract to soften hair and stimulate the scalp.

Ouai | Rose Hair & Body Oil ($2.99):  I love a multi-use product and would have loved this if it wasn’t rose. Sorry. Use this on towel dried hair to restore moisture or after a blowout to prevent frizz. Apply to skin to reduce dryness and help calm irritations.

Yves Saint Laurent | Black Opium ($??): I wasn’t sure what to expect when I saw this. YSL’s classic Opium was my mom’s go-to evening fragrance. To me, that was always a deep and overly floral aroma. This scent has notes of Coffee Accord, Orange Blossom, Cedarwood Essence, and Patchouli Essence. I find that it’s not as heavy as the classic and closer to my style.

My June Play! by Sephora is valued around $26. Overall, this box was OK. I think I need to redo my profile. There were some other variations that had products I loved or would like to try (Madame CJ Walker, Bulgari Omnia, Deva Curl just to name a few). Oh well, here’s to next month.
